6-6

We will not be as good as many of yall think we will be. We went 6-6 last year in the Big XII. We will not have a proven QB, we have a new coaching scheme, and much tougher competition.

7-5 with a chance to get to 8 wins with a bowl victory would be extremely positive in our first SEC season.

Starkvegas-Sumlin has history of winning there and we have more talent than you(then and now) and that '09 Houston team. Will that translate into a "W?" I'll take my chances. He also beat LaTech last year....in regulation, in Ruston.
And you might be right about us being clueless, I'll give you that. But this guy is not.

On a rational day prior to the season starting 7-5 is a reasonable base expectation. I can see 8 or 9 if we catch some breaks and play abover our talent level a few times.

As the first kickoff sails through the air vs. LaTech my expectations will immediately rise to undefeated and beating everyone by 40.

I won't talk about the last set of expectations that typically follow the first stupid loss of the year.

Games A&M should win: South Carolina State, Sam Houston State, SMU, Ole Miss

Games A&M is a toss up in: Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, Florida, Arkansas, Missouri, Auburn

Games A&M should not win: LSU, Alabama

With a new staff, new league, and new QB the Aggies are going to drop probably two games they shouldn't have. The problem is we just don't know the level this team will be playing at...will they drop two games against say Louisiana Tech and Ole Miss because they are playing at a low level or will they drop games against Mizzou and Mississippi State yet are playing at a fairly high level.

I'm going to put our range at 5-7 to 8-4. Anything less would be very very worrying and anything more would be downright amazing.

I get flak for it but i refuse to sleep on la tech.

First game with new everything with the big Florida game a week away and oh yeah its on the road versus a team that played very very well and returned everyone. Also I remember the last time I assumed our new coach could overpower a non BCS team with our talent....I also remember being in the stands in the 4th quarter of Arkansas state repeatedly stating "we are actually going to lose this game".

Trust me, I hope A&M blows them out of the water but until I see it, I'm approaching that game with extreme caution.

Good to know you're not looking past them. We need to be sure all fans are focused on LA Tech, and not looking forward to Florida.

I still maintain that A&M has a much better team than most give credit for. A bunch of last year losses was due to poor conditioning and poor attitude on the part of some of the starters. I'm thinking 9-3.

I've said we can go 8-4 this season for a while. I'd be happy with 7-5, and a little disappointed with 6-6. 8-4 would be great and 9-3 would be incredible.

We'll see gator... now that Musschump has opened his pie hole, you and the gator nation better hope they win. As for me and all redass Ag's, we won't be "booking" anything except a great game in which we expect the good guys to come out on top. Gators D is better this year, we get it. But I don't believe they've played a down against Sumlin or Kingsbury's O. Mushmouth has made a lot about "knowing us"; in reality, he KNEW us pre-Sumlin. He has no advantage at all. However, our Jr's and Sr's have all played against his D while on the whorn staff. Will it make that much of a difference? Probably not, but I don't see how you can "book" a win.

We have a lot of unknowns this year along with lack of quality depth across the board that makes it hard to predict how it will go. To me, anywhere from 4 to 9 wins is plausible, depending on how good these coaches are, how good the new players are with getting up to speed and picking things up, and how healthy we stay.

Without seeing the coaching staff in action yet and how all the new faces play, if you offered me a 7-5 year right now I would take it.

I think most reasonable posters have acknowledged that blowing out La. Tech is unlikely given the nature of the game and the team. That being said, we have no business losing to them. Any coach worth half of Sumlin's salary should be able to take our talent and, using ANY system and a month of practice, beat a non-BCS school in their first game.

A loss there would completely undermine recruiting and the new attitude he has been trying to install. It would essentially render everything he has said and done to get our fans excited as nothing more than hollow bull****.

This. If we catch a gift from the injury Gods we have the starting talent to win 8-9 games, considering that there are only three games on our schedule which no rational person wouldprecit us to win (LSU, Bama and Auburn).

The problem is that very few teams are that lucky and we have a serious lack of depth on both lines and linebacker. Additionally, if Swope, McNeal and/or EZ go down we become very young and thin at receiver. If our starters start going down, we could easily lose 6-7 games. The difference between us and other established SEC teams is that we have a bunch of guys on scholorship who really have no business playing in the SEC. The better SEC programs have backups who could start on most FBS teams, and aside from Trey Williams, a couple of our DBs and maybe a receiver or two I can't think of any secnd teamers on our roster who would start for a major conference team.

Exactly, this cannot be stated enough. This is the biggest reason why the past 2 years I and the rest of the potbangers was screaming for Sherman to get canned. The recruiting wasn't good enough and it was obvious to us. All his apologists defended him, but this season will be a huge wake-up call and proof it wasn't good enough and he had to go.

I think we can add to your list Showers, Michael, Joeckel, Matthews, Lewis, Mathis, Ennis, Moore, and all 3 LB's as guys that simply cannot miss more than 1-2 games this year. Basically over half our starters are irreplaceable, which is way too many. Hopefully Sumlin is the man to change this, but yeah like you said, there are way too many players who should not have a scholarship thanks to sleepy Sherm.

Sumlin will weed out those who don't deserve a scolorship. By next year he will have that job taken care of. But don't just write off this year.

I'd be happy if UT goes 7-5 this season and is bowl eligible. . .

I think everyone on A&M's schedule ya'll have a realistic chance of winning with the exception of LSU/Bama which would both be huge upsets. So 7-5 is realistic, but so is 10-2.

Not saying I nailed it, but:

UT not lucky - Lost in 4 OTs to Mizzou, lost to USCjr by field goal thanks to perfect end-zone INT thrown by Bray, not bowl eligible, wasn't happy.

A&M, despite numerous 'I'd be happy with 7-5' by aggie fans goes 10-2, beats Bama in huge upset, loses to LSU, loses to Florida to keep me accurate on games won.

I predict I'll be giving my frighteningly sorta accurate predictions for this year around July 13th this year. I'll also let everyone know which SEC team is going to win the SEC Championship and the SEC Invitation National Championship game.

GoVols goin' spot-on!

I would like to see A&M win the BCS Champeenship this year with two wins over Bama... nail-biter in September and complete domination in January! That is my dream scenario!

If we beat bama on 9/14... i hope we don't get a rematch with them for the nat'l champ. Beating saban twice is tough enough... beating them 3 times in 14 months, are you kidding me?!? no ty

Not many of us opposed Sherman's firing. We all knew Sumlin was good, very few of us realized he was this good.

10-2 was a pipe dream. Defense was transitioning from 3-4 to 4-3. We only returned 6 starters from a 2011 team that could not stop the pass.

We also had major questions at QB. Nobody had won the QB job coming out of spring ball. Nobody on our roster had taken a meaningful snap.

Arkie and Auburn both grossly underachieved and should have been more competitive. MSU also probably should have been better.

In August of last year, if St. Peter offered me: (A) 7-5 and bowl; or (B) Let it ride...

I would have taken the bowl eligibility.

Alright, you deserve a little credit I suppose Go Vols. We were all patting ourselves on the back last year because we staying what we believed to be "practical." Check my post on the first page and I was initially one of those. Couldn't help myself and had to be greedy for nine wins. Felt good then, feels good now! I will look forward to your predictions and I really hope that Starkvegas can make an appearance, bwahahah.
