Man that guy is great. Just saw him on ESPN. Managing to pitch all his products on the air. Classic.

I'd rather have Billy G than O'Reilly Auto Parts Bobby.

Bobby definitely has a pot-load full of wins, but nobody ever used the phrase "winning with class" when talking about him.

I'm a Bobby Knight fan. Think he's misunderstood and got a bad rap by the media. I do not think he is a perfect man, but I like him anyway.

77, what do you mean?

You may not like Knight, but he does win with class. His players graduate, they are not thugs, they play a team system and they don't get in trouble.

Knight doesn't cheat (like Eddie Sutton) and uses good kids. You may not like his antics, but he wins (and wins and wins) with class.

I was in Lubbock on business on Friday and Saturday and I just don't see how anyone in the world who visits both A&M and Tech would choose Tech. I just don't care for Lubbock at all. I know College Station has its critics but I really think it is a great town and with close proximity to Houston, Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio people really aren't far from anything.

Bobby Knight is certainly a character but give me BCG any day of the week over him.

Thanks Legend for being a stand up guy!

Wish you guys good wins in NIT!

And Flu where you fault is thinking everything starts and stops in College Station. It does not. I just don't understand that thinking. We are all different and make different choices and by they way outside Tech and A&M there are many great colleges smaller and larger around the nation!

I watched some special on him last night at 3 am. I always thought the guy was an *******, and after watching that show, its confirmed.

I can't stand him, and I don't care if he wins. I respect the fact that his players graduate but it doesnt give him the right to act like a five year old. When I think of a coach, I think of someone I would want my child to look up to and admire....even emulate. Coach Knight does not fit that description. He has no tact, he very seldom exercises control over his actions and words.

If we all lived as Coach Knight does, wearing our emotions on our sleeves, physically expressing our every displeasure....this world would suck.

The man is an immature idiot who was not beat enough or made to sit still at the dinner table as a child.

He gets a certain type of player to follow him and buy into his system. Even David Koresh had followers.

I watched him slap down Ross' arm last night and yell at him about 2 inches from his face "Shut the f##k up!!" Yeah, that's class. I would rather my son play for someone who is hard on them, but with control and purpose. Kind of the Drill Instructor mentality. The Drill Instructors in boot camp are not really mad. It is an act. It conveys a message and causes recruits to work under pressure. Same thing in basketball. I wouldn't want my son to have to worry about being choked, hit, or having poo shown to him from the head case head coach.

I would have to agree with fluaggie. I could accept anyone I know going to another school besides A&M. My only exception is Texas. Yeah Austin is a pretty nice town, but to me there is always an alternative to Texas.

Lubbock and west Texas does have some charm, not much but some. Tech was once, and still is a regional school. There are a lot of west Texans who like Tech. However, because of the tougher requirements in the last 20-25 years by A&M and Texas, more kids chose Tech.

IMO Tech is far more tolerable than Texas.

I thought the post-game interview of Knight following the Tech win over OU Saturday was the best, or most interesting, I've heard. Of course, I've never paid that much attenton to post-game or half-time interviews of coaches, as they always seem to follow along the same lines, with nothing of note said.

In today's OSU-Tech game I commented to my grandson that both Knight and Sutton vigorously chewed out (reprimanded) their players at every opportunity--during TOs and during play. But then I acknowledged that very few coaches had won more basketball games than they. It's hard to argue with sucess, but I do see other coaches smile now and then.

I did like Sutton's reply to the girl's question at half-time today concerning OSU's play to that point: Was it good Tech defense or sloppy play by OSU? He replied, "Sloppy play!" With Tech's 14 turnovers in the first half he could have been commenting on both teams.

I dislike him as a person. Thought he got away with way too much at Indiana and should not have been allowed back in coaching.

His players may graduate, but he is not an example of how to deal with stress or treat your fellow humans.

Bob Knight is the kind of coach that makes players better than most coaches could. Any player that can play for him will leave a better person than they were when they got there.

How will rages and screaming fits make anyone a better person? Just wondering.

I think good people treat others with respect and dignity at all times.

"I mentioned - rather subtly - that if anyone gave up an offensive rebound in the second half, they would be shot. Fortunately the message seemed to get through and I didn't have to shoot anybody."

Bobby Knight's got issues, but overall the guy rules. Just read A Season on the Brink. It had me laughing out loud at some of his ridiculous antics and tirades, but after I read the book, I really appreciate the man and who he is. Simply put, to me the good about Bobby Knight outweighs the bad.

Bob Knight is going to retire as the winningest coach in college basketball history with at least three national championships. There is not another coach who is more dedicated to turning teenaged kids into young men who are prepared for life, and at the same time promoting the "team" concept. If you ask virtually anyone who has ever played for him, or coached under him they all would lie down in traffic for him. They are all loyal to him, because he always does right by them, even if at the time it didn't feel that way. There are too many bleeding hearts around who can't figure this out.

He took over a 9 win Tech program in 2001 and in four years has had four consecutive 20+ win season, 3 NCAA tourney teams, 1 NIT Final Four team, 4 straight years of making it to the Big 12 conference tourney semifinals or beyond. Bob Knight has always walked to his own beat, and has never pandered to politics, or anyone else's appeasement. Also, he has never had any NCAA violations, and has one of the highest graduation rates of his players in history.

Coach Knight has also raised money for the universities that he has worked for. When I see people on here ripping him, and pointing the finger at him, it really really really comes off to me as being sour grapes. I just don't understand why people waste their breath bashing the guy? Because he yells at people for asking him stupid questions? With that being said, I think BG is a fine young coach, who has a bright future ahead. I wish him every success at A&M in the world. This is the time of year when all of the Big 12 schools should be rooting for each other for conference pride!

Give 'em hell Aggies and dominate in MSG!

wow, that has to be the first name based on a moral victory i have ever seen before:-)

in all seriousness though, i think knight has always led a really good program, always had high graduation rates and doesnt cheat or use drug dealers and wife beaters like some schools do. it's just his on court antics that make me lose a lot of respect for him. the guy just has absolutely no way to control his temper. and i think that its ridiculous for a grown man to act the way he does(chair throwing, choking players, cussing at a school official in a grocery store)

that being said, he is definately a great coach, and should finish with the all time wins record and tech is lucky to have him. its just a shame that in all these years coaching he still hasnt learned to control himself.

Actually, a better book about Knight is Beyond the Brink written by, I think, Joan Mellon.

Choach Knight does not most college administration with any regard, as evidenced by the salad bar incident with Tech's chancellor.

Although it is hard to argue with success, I'd rather a kid of mine to play for someone like Coach K. His demeanor on and off the court seems to be worth of admiration. Coach Knight's behavior is most definitely not.

A lot of that is true, 10 years ago. Listen, if you guys believe in second chances I don't see why this guy couldn't get one? If you don't that's fine, but I have a feeling most people do. Simply put, since Knight's been at Tech he has 0 technicals (maybe 1, but pretty sure 0) and the only incident he's had was the salad bar thing which was totally blown out of proportion because the true story will never be known. Fact is, the guy is all about loyalty, if you burn your bridge you're done in his eyes, but if you're loyal to him he'll do anything for you. He's been known to give former players money to start businesses and what not. Just my .02

Well, lets admit it. The man is a genius, no doubt about it. He does have quirks in his personality, that can explode, like they did in IU and other places.

He reminds me of George Patton. Brillant man, capable leader, but can be a huge pain in the rear and embarrass you. Knight needs to have an Omar Bradley over him.

Maybe Gerald Meyer, a pretty good basketball coach in his own right who gave Knight a second life is Knight's Bradley. However, I think Knight would leave Tech in heart beat if a bigger program came his way. He wants to win another NC to prove every one wrong. I don't think he can do that at Tech.

I agree to some extent with 3rd Gen. I am not so sure I would want my son playing for Knight, it would be a risky proposition. My son would have to have a really strong and stable constitution to handle the mood swings this man goes through.

"only one thing is important!"
