I was off a year on the 0-16 conference record that was 2004. In 2003 we had BK playing hero ball and went 14-14 overall. He was fun to watch.

You wont regret clicking through and reading this article. Yes, author is a Bham homer but he's excited for McMillan to do his thing on a bigger stage. I mentioned it on anothe thread, but a buddy of mine has called high school and college games in Alabama for 15+ years and knows Alabama basketball as well as anyone. He's absolutely convinced Bucky would succeed anywhere. Yeah, he was a high school coach 5 years ago. He also built that high school program from nothing to rattling off like 6 championships in the time there.

This "kid" (10+ years older than Brad Stevens taking over Butler or Billy Donovan taking over Florida) can flat out coach.

Yes and no. He clearly had success before he got to A&M, but we hired him from a lower tier ACC school. I'll grant you he was the splashiest hire we've ever made, but it's not like we poached a coach from a top tier…or even second tier…program.

If there was ever a time to try this, it is now.

It's simple really. It all comes down to whether or not he can bring good if not great players here.

Home run for Texas A&M all around, IMO. Samford has been one of the most fun watches in college hoops last few years. Dude was a high school coach five years ago.

We aren't an elite program

Here's the rub. We aren't an elite athletic program by any stretch. What we have been doing hasn't worked so why not try something different and see what happens.

I give Albert's credit for taking a shot at Beard and McCaslin and failing on those attempts he pivoted to up and comers rather than hiring a mediocre guy with P5 experience . I think Lutz, Huss , or McMillan were all good fallbacks . I can't really fault Albert's process and they got it done quickly enough that they have a shot to assemble a decent roster for next yr.

Our basketball is not elite man, we're trying to do something cool

Pass and cut, screen and roll, nice solid fundamentals. I'm stoked. Lets get to work!

Shaka at Texas was a dud because he was expected to recruit McD’s AA’s and get them to buy into Havoc.

Bucky Ball doesn’t need it. He knows the skill set he needs, floor spreaders and playmakers. Portal for non-P4 guys & athletic wings.
