Why do this over the last 4 years? Are you trying to make Buzz look better? Here's the tally over Buzz's tenure.
1. Auburn 72 wins
2. Alabama 70 wins
3. Tennessee 66 wins
4. Kentucky 64 wins
5. Florida 63 wins
6. Texas A&M 52 wins
7. Mississippi State 52 wins
8. Missouri 46 wins
9. Arkansas 45 wins
10. Ole Miss 44 wins
11. LSU 47 wins
12. South Carolina 37 wins
13. Vanderbilt 34 wins
14. Georgia 32 wins
It amazes me that some people think 6-7 place in conference and 2 tournament wins is "pretty good". It was past time to move on, even at the risk of doing worse.
You are including an incomplete year where A&M played 6 fewer games than any other SEC team, so that's not even apples to apples. I doubt we would have won many more, if ANY more, SEC games if we had played a full slate - it's fair to see Buzz bombed the Covid year whereas Jimbo maybe profited a bit. I don't thinks its a good year to measure with since playing fields were unfair due to true illnesses, or local and regional policies, etc.
A&M had the 5th most wins in the SEC over the past 4 years, they had a second place finish, two 5ths, and a 7th. I would say only the 4 year Turgeon run was better, as far as position in a conference, in A&M basketball history. We will finish ranked in the AP poll twice, only equaled by Turgeon but our rankings will be higher under Buzz. He made 3 straight NCAA tournaments and it was a hair's breadth from 4 straight. We had our second highest ever ranking in the AP poll this last season. We had our second highest ever NCAA tourney seed.
You can say "pretty good" if talking nationally, comparing to every SEC and national team including all the blue bloods. You could also compare it to A&M history, with some knowledge of our program history and program support, and say it possible was the best 4 year run in the history of A&M basketball or comparable to it.
Buzz did not quite meet my expectations when he was hired, but he was pretty close. I'd of course like to see the Ags do even better. With the right coach and NIL support, we can do even better.
