1. What team scored the fewest points in a single OT period?

2. What team scored the most points in a single OT period?

3. What is unique about these two records?

4. Can you make a connection with some other related record?

Okay, some of y'all got it, at least part of it. Here's why it's so cool:

A.. Both teams combined for 0 points in the first OT. A record that has been tied but will never be broken.

B. The same team that got 0, then set an NCAA record that still stands- 17 point margin of victory in OT. I also believe it set a record for the most points scored in a single OT- 25 points.

C. Unique because least points and most points were scored in the same game!

D. And the really cool connection with another record? Texas A&M also holds the record in football for the most points scored in OT!

1980 North Carolina scored 0 against A&M in second OT.

In same OT Aggies scored 17 points, I think.

13 or 15 of those points were made free throws.

Great game. No shot clock or 3 point shots in rules. NC won the first OT tip and held the ball 5 minutes but missed the only shot. 2nd OT we won the tip scored and then stopped them. So NC fouled to force us to the line over and over.

That win got us into the sweet 16 and we played Louisville at the Summit in Houston. Missouri and LSU were the other 2 teams. We fell behind Louisville 12-0 but tied it at 12-12 and ended up losing in double OT to the team that won the title in 1980

Rudy Woods 7' was center, Vernon Smith and Rynn Wright were 6'8" forwards and Dave Goff and David Britton were the starting guards. Louisville had Darrell Griffith and the McCray twins Dean Smith was coach of North Carolina.

I was sitting behind the basket in The Summit when ref made the HORRIBLE and game changing call against David Brittan on a fictitious charge. Without that call we beat Louisville and could have won the NC.

I was also in Denton for the Bradley and UNC games. That was my Sr year at A&M.

I was at the Bradley and Louisville games. The Louisville game night was my introduction to the vulgar nastiness of lsu fans. The funny thing about the North Carolina team was that they had lost their first game in the tournament the previous 2 years. Then they lost to us in their first game. In those days, teams had byes. Now, at a big time school, a team losing their first game in the tournament 3 years in a row is grounds for the coach to be fired. James worthy was on that team but got hurt early in the season and missed most of that season.

I had forgotten that neither team scored in the first OT.

Thank goodness for the shot clock now.

Only coach to hold Michael Jordan to fewer than 20 points a game!
