Please dont. Have to pay far too much. Guy wins regular season. Guy doesnt win big (why I originall said unproven). Have to pay him BIG BIG.

He has a great overall record but the data is skewed from early HC jobs. He hasnt made much of a run in the tourney that I am aware of. Alarms for me.

Of course we called him. And of course he told us NO quickly. They knew when they called him he would say No, but you have to check.

I'm pretty sure we never even considered McGasland.

He's 48 years old and coming into the ideal age for a coach when they tend to win, we should be moving heaven and earth to get him. That said, it was never going to happen. His wife played soccer at Tech and he got his MBA there.

A&M will eventually overpay for some second tier coach. It's a tradition.

He's pretty invested in Lubbock. His wife is an alum, kids go to a private school here. He also has a better deal here, with Tech basketball. I wouldn't expect he was too serious about moving. I've been around him some- He is a really nice guy. Interacts well with people and seems genuinely sincere.

Would imagine he enjoys the NIL & financial support from the alumni as well. Went to HS with their mega-donor Dusty Womble. Different graduating class and we weren't friends or anything, but he was well known to be incredibly smart and a genuine good guy.

Look with NIL in overdrive, all the non-major schools may start pulling back on football for basketball. tech may be one of those.

I'm certainly not in the loop, but I live in Lubbock, I've met many of Techs coaches, and I'm a retired HS coach. Their AD believes there will be another round of realignment coming up. They have been seriously upgrading the football and basketball facilities along with NIL. Hocutt believes that football and basketball programs will be the driving force of getting them into one of the two super conferences. Campbell, Womble, and a few others are helping pay for all that. At least they have a plan- whether it pans out or not, is a wait and see.

Did you see what Tech did with NIL this past December/January in the transfer portal? Tech is in no way pulling back on football....quite the opposite.

Lmao at people acting like getting turned down for job interest is equivalent to getting rejected by a chick in high school


This is a business... you go out & gauge all interest to see what you can make happen




Bas w regards to losing on the field is one thing but crying about a coach saying no to a job offer is just sad
