Williams takes over a job with national championship expectations, as Gary Williams won the 2002 national title there. Since arriving in the Big Ten in 2014, the results haven't matched the consistent success that Williams delivered in the ACC. The Terrapins have reached the Sweet 16 just twice

One of the reasons Willard left Maryland was because they did not have the NIL and support he felt he needed.

What was his alternative? Stay and finish last in SEC next year?

Also, Buzz ball is wayyyyy more translatable in the Big 10 than the SEC.

Get over yourselves. Buzz coached right down the road before he came here.He knows far more about Maryland than you people. He knows what he is getting into. And most other schools don't drag their politics into the sports program like you do.

I live in Maryland and my son goes there. I have some insight to the people.

I'm pretty sure he got himself an additional 3 years guaranteed at several million bucks per year, so not sure I'd call him a fool.

Most other schools don't make their teams play conference games on the west coast, either. But then there is Maryland.

They have an 18,0000 seat arena and averaged over 13,000 per game this year.

I wish I could be paid millions to be a fool and fail to meet expectations repeatedly. Sounds more like we are the fools..

Would Buzz have gotten 6 year contract here at TAMU?

a reset was going to have to occur, and even with the transfer portal options we were looking at a tough season next year

Sounds like Buzz made a smart decision to leave, but we are butt hurt because we didnt become a Elite 8 team and felt we deserved it....nothing in our history suggests otherwise

I read he got a total of 6 years guaranteed, is that right? Buzz just checked the last box off of his life plan retirement goals.
