You're in charge of hiring A&M's next basketball coach. Your crystal ball tells you a candidate will only win two NCAA tournament games after six seasons. Do you hire him?
No.
No.

But we have been told that's as get as it gets based on past Aggie basketball history,

Much more interesting thread, if you got one question to ask a crystal ball, and it has to be aggie basketball related, what is it?
Can you even ask a crystal ball yes or no questions? Can it display data or is it just going to give you a glimpse of the future?
I would ask the final scores of next season's games and then after a few games of confirming my crystal ball is legit I would bet the max amount to eventually make millions and yet stay under the radar.bobinator said:

And the same people that were clamoring for Turgeon's dismissal are similar ones calling for Buzz's head because Turge's offense was boring to watch, we couldn't get past the 2nd round, they didn't jive with the school, recruiting, and/or insert erroneous complaint here ____.Proposition Joe said:
Buzz has brought the program back to Turgeon levels.
There's something to be said for that, but for some it's still not the ceiling they are looking for. Just like the issue was with Turgeon, recruiting has to improve.

We seem to have plenty of that around here. So much residual angst.TjgtAg08 said:texag101 said:

Do you realize how down the program was when he got here? And his first two years don't count, period. You can whine and moan all you want, but hes had 4 opportunities to make the tournament, not 6.
3 straight tourney appearances, 2 wins in 4 years. Not outstanding, but if it continues and we make it again next year, it will only be the second time EVER a coach at A&M has made the tournament 4 times, let alone 4 in a row.
Again, not elite by what we as fans want, but if your crystal ball showed 4 years, 3 tournament appearances and 2 wins for Texas A&M, and the choice is take that or take the unknown results of door 2, you'd be a grade A moron not to take that.

The problem with all the "hire this guy" analyses is that Buzz met most, if not all, of the criteria you use as reasons to hire that guy. Just drop it and let it play out. Buzz has put good teams on the floor and will break through in the tournament. Our whip saw approach to hiring never yields dividends anyway.
IT'S HAS TO BE AGGIE BASKETBALL RELATED.BQ_90 said:
Why in the hell would you use it to look at a coaches future post season record and not use it to look up future winning lottery ticket numbers

Hypothetical - if we would have won Saturday and lost tonight, would everyone still be calling to can Buzz?
You're in charge of hiring A&M's next basketball coach. Your crystal ball tells you a candidate will win 120 games over 5.5 seasons (half due to COVID shortened season), win SEC coach of the year twice, go to the NIT final, and make three straight Big Dances after six seasons. In his final year, the team is ranked the entire season. Do you hire him?texag101 said:
