Hypothetical - if we would have won Saturday and lost tonight, would everyone still be calling to can Buzz?

Not a chance. This board has placed some insanely bizarre artificially inflated importance on the very mediocre standard of the sweet 16.

I think the reason is due to our seed (4), which some thought should have been 3. 3s and 4s SHOULD make the S16. I don't think that represents a level of "insanely bizarre artificially inflated importance," and I think if you do, its your burden to show how it does.

Because it's one game.

Going from "Buzz is underperforming and we should think about moving on" or some similar thought to "Buzz is doing well and I feel great about it" based on one game is crazy.

I've seen this group of posters saying things along the lines of this year being the same as last year, but it's not as long as you don't have a myopic view of college basketball (which is why posting here all season or not actually is relevant.)

This team earned a four seed, which is one of the best seasons in the history of A&M basketball. It was a significantly better season than last year, and if we'd have lost to Yale or beaten Michigan that would still be true. It would still be true if we upset Houston last year or lost to Nebraska. Basing your entire view of the basketball program on a couple of postseason games is just a bad way to do it. Yes, it's a factor, but it shouldn't be the biggest one.

Now the question is can we build back up again quickly. This was a peak regular season, which is fine, a 4 seed is a good season. But how far is the fall going to be?

We've made the tournament 3 straight times (should have been 4). Anyone who says that's not good enough is insane. Maybe I'm still beaten down by the BK era but making the tournament is still a big deal for me.

this times eleventy billion. Or worse, the Melvin experiment as I like to call it.

No, I was making a complicated reference to 2007.

Buzz took a team to the NCAA tournament three years in a row without a single NBA draft pick player (is anybody watching tonight's games?). A single addition of a high caliber big man like Edie or a shooter like Tre Johnson could have resulted in a completely different outcome with our core team. We're going to have to give him or whomever is next more recruiting support, or learn to take the small victories (tournament participation ribbon).
