They are actually 14th in a league projected to get in 12.5

Oklahoma is a clear 13th best profile above Texas.

Texas has to at a minimum beat Vandy and us to even start to be in the conversation, even with that it's always dangerous to build your resume this close to selection Sunday. I don't think they have a real chance unless they beat Vandy, us and Tennessee. Even then it wouldn't be shocking to see them in the NIT.

Ding, ding! Never forget that this collegiate sport stuff is a money business, not a sports philosophy association. All that matters is the bottom line. Not who's feelings get hurt or what is the right thing to do.

To be clear: the NCAA's shamateurism was an utter failure and they sold out the lower level schools to pay just the back pay of over $2 billion to the piper for their intentional anti-trust violations.

The front looking situation is worse and if the paid $2 billion for 2016 to roughly 2024, then how many schools paying $20 million per year for internal use of name, image, and likeness as a matter of revenue share does it take to equal $2 billion / eight years in annual revenue share?

The answer is surprisingly small.
$2 billion / 8 = $250 million
$250 million / $20 million per school = 12.5 schools.

The legal team of the House students (it's several lawsuits) are attempting between scholarships and NIL to take down roughly 50% of the primary two revenue sports which, of course, pay for most of the rest.

Note the NCAA has agreed to the current settlement agreement and one of the details is a Delotte group that will attempt to set value for students with respect to sport and position for their NIL payments.

The Biden administration attempted to overrule the judge's oversight by claiming it must be distributed by Title IX meaning equal distribution to men and women athletes. But Trump withdrew the claim already.

I suspect this will undo Title IX for sports funding.

But the $20 million plus annual escalator is likely the primary qualifier for being in a power conference going forward. And conferences likely will require equivalent spend for all aspects of athletic department spend. I do anticipate an independent effort directly and privately funded to separately fund women at an equivalent level. But I can't begin to guess how that will work:

I was under the impression that the conference tournament would not get you in unless you won it in a situation like this. Tournament wins can affect seeding if you're in, but not get you in.

So who you play doesn't matter? Wild.

Kentucky is just barely over .500 at 10-8 and they are a 3 seed in the tourney and some are saying they could move up to a 2 seed. You don't understand how great this conference is. You have to look deeper than just the record. Half the top 12 teams in the tourney will likely come from SEC. 6 SEC in top 12 compared to 3 Big 12, 1 Big East, 1 ACC

wont get in unless there is a bunch of favorites winning their Conference C-Ship, then they might.

rather, won't get in if there are a lot of darkhorses advancing by auto-bid.

I never said that SMU should be in over Miss St. The make it/not make it line will always be different in every conference. My opinion was just that the bar should be set at a .500 conference record.

And as far as 'the strongest conference basketball has ever seen', you may be right.... but we should wait at least until the start of the 2nd weekend of the tournament before we go there.
