Former Texas A&M point guard Brian Barone is coaching Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship, up 55-40 with 7:13 to go. This would be SIUE's first ever NCAA tournament appearance.
SIUE coach Brian Barone put a framed pair of scissors above the locker room door six years ago. Now, the Cougars get to cut down the net and go dancing.

he also framed a hammer next to it to break into the glass for the scissors, and is currently trying to figure out how to get to the hammer
Brian's son Carson is a sophomore point guard at Father McGivney Catholic High (IL), averaging 4.9 ppg.Method Man said:
Does he have any sons who aren't very good at basketball that he will place on our team when he coaches us?

He was the best player on his dad's last team, right? So, um, yeah...
He is actually on the all-time single season assist list, which is pretty amazing when you consider who he was passing to.
I honestly cannot remember a single player from that team other than Barone, even though I was in school at the time. Didn't we have some immobile Spanish guy at center? Or was that one of Melvin's teams?Tamuco99 said:Not even close to the best, even on that awful team94chem said:

Exactly...although admittedly you could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw Jones averaged 18PPG that yearJJxvi said:

I used to hoop with him all the time at the Rec.
I always thought he would make a great coach.
He was limited in size, speed, athleticism but his basketball feel and effort were unmatched.
Very happy for him and I hope they can make some noise in the tourney!

Always love it when some dude who was the 9th man at Conroe Oak Ridge or wherever, and never sniffed collegiate ball, calls a guy a scrub. You're right, you probably would have taken that 1998 A&M team to the final four.
Sorry, Brian. Also, I said he was a productive college player. I never said I was better than him. I said he didn't stand out in pickup games which he absolutely did not.Poohsparkfan said:
