I also think it's worth noting that Wade stayed here for four years and won a Buck Weirus award in an era where I'm positive he could have gotten paid a lot more to play somewhere else.

You might want to rethink that lot more money thought. His game definitely does not translate to the NBA or NBA money. He might get SOME money in Europe. But, I sure am glad he played here.

He means in NIL and I'm certain he could have gone to any of the top 5 major programs in college basketball history this year or last and made a lot more money.

Not likely. His game is perfect for Buzz's offense or lack there of.

Very strange to do it during the year. Would they have done it if we lost?

Def agree with Bob's take that feels like something coach wants done while he is still here for it

Maybe should revisit if King should be up there too. Played on some horrible teams, with awful coaching. Was still a stud.

There still has to be at least some level of team success right? And was King ever even all-conference? I know he was freshman of the year.

If we're trying to retroactively recognize guys I'd put Sloan at the top of the list. I know he was at least first team all conference once, made the tournament all four years.

Sloan top of my list

Caruso second

Robert Williams racked up some accolades as well

All relatively recent guys with postseason appearances and NBA careers (not that that matters too much). I'm presume there were some all swc ballers in the 70's and 80's as well.

Many of you negative people in this thread have 30 seconds to GTFO. That was a beautiful moment in Aggie basketball history to witness!

Onward to Nashville and then the Madness.

I disagree with this and am surprised by it. The standard was being a consensus all American.

And to do it before his career is actually concluded is absurd. I don't want to ruin his moment or sound like I'm hating on him but A&M does some seriously strange things.

Where's Johnny's statue by the way?

He was an all American. Our second one ever. If not him then who?

Wade Taylor is a graduating senior and leading scorer for Texas A&M all time.

What's so strange here? And where's this "standard"?

I mean t.u. retired Kevin Durant's number as a freshman. That seems odd. And the retired TJ Ford's number as a sophomore I believe. That seems odd. How odd is the timing when it's Wade's last home game for his Seniors' Night?

Regarding Manziel, you mean Heisman, not All American, right? Don't know what to say other than ask his coach.

Tonight was Aggies' night. Tonight was Wade's.

This is what you have after a great win tonight from a team that can hang with anyone? You want to throw darts at the HC? Dude.

Wade was getting in the rafters regardless if it being tonight or at later date. That much is certain.

John Beasley is the most overlooked Aggie basketball player. He was SWC Player of the year twice in 1965 and 1966 and held many A&M records when he graduated. He would have held even more, but freshmen were not allied to play on varsity. He was drafted by both NBA and ABA teams. He played seven seasons in the ABA, was an ABA All-Star three times and ABA All-Star game MVP once. Beasley passed in 2022.

As for the 1970s, Sonny Parker was our best player. He was first team SWC twice and played in the NBA for six years. I understand his health is not good.

Was not intending to dump on Wade, just whatever process led to him getting his jersey retired, especially as an active player which I never remember seeing before. Others disagree. I understand where it came off as dumping on Wade which I agree would be inappropriate, especially in light of a big win. So I apologize for offending.

And yes congratulations to him as it is a great honor. I 100% agree obviously that he has had a tremendous career and impact on Aggie hoops - was not my intention to suggest otherwise.

Really cool moment and I'm pretty glad for him. Dude could've portaled to 363 other D1 teams after last season.

Only thing that sucked compared to Acie's day against the Pokes, was that this had to be done on a week night of an 8:00 game. Thus Buzz had to beg people to stay. My pic I took was taken at 10:33 pm, and I just got home 10 minutes ago.

You guys forget acid law missed a right handed layout to beat Memphis at end of game which would have sent us to elite 8 vs Ohio State. Still mad we should have of won.

I agree it was warranted- all time Aggie scorer on memorable teams. Congrats to IV!

*also I'm cool with any stunt that lifts him out of the recent slump and enables him to shoot lights out for the rest of the season.

No way on Robert Williams.

I think if they call the freaking foul against UCLA - Sloan would make it up there. Who knows what would have happened with Turge if we made a Final 4 run along with it.

As much as I love AC- that's still a no on him too.

On thing is for certain and shall hence forth be known as a written code for all future recruiting efforts...

All future commits to A&M shall include IV at the end of their name!

Ag13, I have apologize as well. I find it hard to read posts on this board that are collectively so negative when I would hope it is a fan site.

You should listen to Coach Williams' press conference. Seems like he has been working on this recognition for a while.

Might give more insight into the process.

Disagree, only a true genius could have seen this for what it was at the time. Someone so smart that frankly TexAgs should put them on the payroll.
