This is NOT the #6 Team in the Country

Yeah it's ridiculous. We've lost six games all year, they were all Quad 1 games, the worst one is 75th in the NET the first game of the season, the next worst is 33rd.

Some folks act like this is the 2023 team.

I'm a casual fan who has watched a few games and went to one. If this is a final 8 team, I hate to see to how bad college basketball has become.

I'm not defending people's ridiculous comments on this thread or board, but just to play devils advocate for a minute.

I think the concern here is, it's getting late in the year and we just played a really really ugly half of basketball in what some call a "tournament environment."

We know about the sip half, the tale of two halves against Georgia, and this half against State, so this team is entirely capable of falling flat on their face.

The schedule is about to get infinitely harder.

It's fun being ranked #7 and all but I think we all know, after what we just watched, we're about to take a tumble down the seed line.

There's people on this board that get off on that for some reason.

We are like Nebraska football under Bo Pelini.

San Diego State, the team that inspired my "dawg" comments was similar. Very ugly to watch but somehow came up with the plays to make it to the final four.

Offensively, we are basically unwatchable.

We can go to the final 4 or lose in round 1...

Thats the truth, you may not like it, but it's the truth.

I mean this is technically true for anyone then, right? Not sure I really understand this mentality, which I've seen on here repeatedly, when we haven't lost a game to a bad team all season. All six of our losses are in Q1, four of which have been true road games.
This team doesn't blow out decent teams, but they have shown the ability to absolutely wear down any team that they're clearly better than.

It's not technically true. It's just true.

The number one characteristic of any NCAA champion is the capacity not to wilt. Every winner has to put together 6 straight wins (7 if they played in). We were on a 5-0 run when we played Mississippi St. That was the equivalent to making it to the championship game.

This season, A&M is playing exceptional basketball in a very exceptional SEC conference. The conference is a relentless forge of high pressure competition. It is a brutal, unfair advantage that A&M is in the SEC.

I can't imagine that we will win every game for the rest of this season, but I think there is a chance we might win the last 6.

They show a proclivity not to wilt.

I am not a casual fan. I love CBB. A&M is not an elegant team, it is a grinder. What it lacks in offensive finesse, it makes up for it in punishing defense.

I believe the team can make it the Elite 8, probably won't be pretty, but I'm ok with that.

Yeah I'm not talking about the general concern, I get that. I'm talking about the constant "this team could lose to anyone or beat anyone" stuff.

In a literal sense it's true because it's basketball, obviously, but this team hasn't lost to anyone even close to bad all season. Like last year we beat Tennessee and then lose to an awful Vandy team in our next game, that's "beat anyone, lose to anyone."

I get it. And my post wasn't directed at you, it was just the most relatable post on the current page. Sorry.

The problem with not losing to "bad teams" is there won't be any of those in the dance. I'm not sure if anyone will be surprised if arguably the best team Texas A&M has ever had loses in the round of 32 after how we've seen them play at certain times this year.

But there will some belly achin' I assure you.

The only thing certain is every game is gonna be ugly, with rebounding and effort typically.
NCAA tourney is one and done and no one can just look at us and pencil us into the final four.

Aside from the teams ranked ahead of us, who does this not apply to?

Where is the magically team ranked in the teens or 20s that can't possibly lose before the elite 8 or sweet 16?

There are a few teams that would qualify as MAJOR shocks if they aren't in the sweet 16, and pretty much all of them are ranked ahead of us and at the very top.

Pretty much every other team has at least one, or a few losses, to teams that are worse than what they'd likely see in the round of 32.

Yet people want to act like every other top 16 team is a shoe in to make the sweet 16, but poor ole A&M may not make it.

Have we even lost a quad 2 game yet?

UCF is a Quad 2 loss because they have become a mess

Aw that sucks. Was cool to not have one.

Being the first game of the season without our team at full strength… the importance/predictive value of that loss at this point seems insignificant.
