Yeah Tennessee and State are gonna be close, probably a point or two.

@Miss State degree of difficulty seems same ilk as @Ole Miss and @Mizzou were. And we managed to win those two with a last second game winning shot. Can we pull off a hat trick or is this where we get bit?

Wow... I'd take it, but man, us scoring 69 points in every single game down the stretch feels statistically unlikely.

I think our style is relentless and we have enough minute eaters that we just have so much in the tank down the stretch that other squads can't match.

4-2

I think this depth will pay off in the tournament. We
make it past first game of the weekend then 2nd game we should be fresher.

I still think blowing that game against tu is going to come back and bite us somehow.

I dont wanna blow your mind but us losing that game the way we did might be why we've won 5 straight since.

It's never good to blow when sips are involved.

Pull off the big road win tomorrow night and we have 3/4 games at home and anything can happen

Anything 3-3 or better down the stretch and staying healthy is optimal. And that won't necessarily be easy either no rest. Have to take care of Vandy and LSU and then let the chips fall where they may.

That should get us the double bye in the SEC tournament and set us up for a deep run where we can utilize our bench.

3-3 gets us to 23-8 (12-6 in the toughest conference) with one of the top 5 best resumes overall in basketball.

Yeah I'm with PJYoung, I don't see how if we haven't lost since then. We've had a lot of close games, but we've managed to play better than our opponents down the stretch and when we've needed to.

The gauntlet looms, but I'm confident that we won't back down to any of these other teams. What does concern me is allowing teams to play really well in the first half and not being able to mount a comeback in the 2nd half.

We need to be sharper in the first half in order to upset any of the upper echelon teams.

Just remember..

- Payne is still emerging as a dominant force. Hard to believe, but I still don't think we've seen a full game of his best on both ends.
- 6 games left? That's usually when Buzz flips the Manny switch. We've done all of thise with Manny not even "getting it going" yet outside maybe 1 or 2 games.
- Wade is still mostly deferring to teammates. We know he can take over a game. This year, he doesn't have to. But there are still games coming where he will absolutely put the team on his back
- Garcia is just starting to hit his stride. It's taken most of the season to truly figure out his role on THIS team. We are starting to run the offense through him and its opening a lot of things up.
- Solo has been building up all year and has become an absolute lockdown defender. Lately, he's developed the mid range shot. Keep that going and it's yet another wrinkle to this team that can take us to the next level.
- Phelps should be coming out of his cool down period after that monster stretch.

Get all of these guys clicking at the same time, and because of how good we are on both sides of the court, we can beat anyone, even teams that Buzz historically stuggles against like UH who can match our defensive intensity but can also shoot lights out.

Bold! I'm not sure if I agree, but love the confidence.

I would turn the conversation around…

Which of these teams looks at A&M and says "the Ags are a gimme" or "if we beat A&M, we're in"?

I think Miss St and Vandy play on a different level of intensity because at this point they have to.

To your point, yes there are teams that will have to play balls to the wall for the remainder of the season to try to stay on the right side of the bubble.

However, whereas they're hoping to upset either us or another top echelon team, they're going to have to sustain it for 40+ mins. For our team, we've been doing this all season long and we're used to playing a grind out game. So we're equipped, but you know, human tendency and all especially when we're pretty much a lock for the tournament at this point. We're not used to being in a comfortable position to be in the tournament, so this is a whole new world for us. If the season ended today, most of us wouldn't be comfortable saying that we'd have huge success in the tournament because there's still some things that we need to improve and I think Buzz has addressed it.

It will be interesting to see if the other top teams let their foot off the gas because they're just biding their time until the tournament. Or, they choose to rest their best players to be healthier for a postseason run.

TN is Jekyll and Hyde. They beat peoples when Ziegler is penetrating and dishing to wide open shooters. They have the best defense in the SEC. Stop Ziegler (put Payne on him), stop TN. They are a lot like us, but have better shooters (when open). Cover their shooters, and they are as bad as we are shooting the rock. They can lose by 30 (Fla) or win by a lot (Fla at home).

This is why I went with 3-3.

We have no idea what team will show up. This was supposed to boost our confidence tonight.

I think we beat Tennessee by double digits

Last year Tennessee played thuggishly (in my opinion). They didn't mind fouling and we like to draw fouls.

This season they average a little over 18 fouls a game. That games comes down to containing Ziegler, controlling the tempo, and getting them in foul trouble.

Not an easy game would love to see you double digit pwning.

The good news about last night is playing that poorly makes me almost certain we're going to beat Tennessee.

I still think 3-2. If we are able to regroup and beat either Tennessee or Vandy in fairly convincing fashion, I'll start to believe we have a shot against Auburn, but hard to think that at the moment with the bad taste of last night still in my mouth.

Beating MSU wouldn't have made you feel more confident about the rest of the schedule? Honest question. Perhaps I'm missing what you are getting at.
