Had a little action on UAB. Turned it on and realized Tom Hart was on the call. Now I'm sitting here sweating out a game between North Texas and UAB and I also have to deal with listening to Tom Hart

Not the same thing that happened in Tech vs. UH game.

You could make the case the Northwestern example could be seen as somewhat intentional. You can't make that case at all in the Tech game because the player was in the air, in the act of passing, when the UH player came over and got the accidental leg to the groin.

I thought they were looking awesome two weeks ago and now they look awful. This sport is so wild sometimes.

Way too early in all of them but all are looking pretty good for A&M rooting interests

St. John's up 4 on Marquette with 12 min left. Both teams are seeding competitors but St John's lack of good wins have them stuck on the 4 line even with a win here. Marquette tumbles to a 4 with a loss.

Vandy up 1 on Florida at the half in Gainesville. Florida losses are good for A&M as Florida is currently a 2 seed

Purdue up 6 on Iowa 2nd half. Some might argue we want Purdue to lose as we are fighting for seeding. I'm all for them and tech to keep winning for now to keep propping up our wins against them.


Kentucky getting run out of the gym against ole Miss- or only does it make our win look better but firmly plants Kentucky well behind A&M

Buzz probably spent half the offseason with some engineers tweaking our rims to make them the perfect amount of bouncy to maximize our offensive rebounding or something.

Let's put it this way- our 17 point win against Southern continues to be a huge ring around our neck dragging down the predictives. Houston is #1,#1 and #3 right now, playing a close game on their home court to Oklahoma State, that has gotten blown out by Kansas State, Utah, Nevada amongst others…. I guarantee their metrics take a big hit if they don't win by double digits.

It is just one system but check out the t-rank which is one of 3 metrics used by the committee, where Houston is #1 and we are #18

We got a score of a 60 against Southern. Our next lowest game all year was a 78 vs Oregon. As much as people hate the game at Texas we got a 96 score in that game. Just one or 2 stinkers to an otherwise very good profile can really skew the predictive ranks.

Yes, 100% accurate. Which I hate because it basically weights 1st half performance over 2nd half which is so counterintuitive.

I dunno, I get the idea behind it. Getting ahead and staying ahead and cruising is a better result than pulling away at the end with some free throws or whatever even if the final score is the same.

Part of why that Southern score is so low is because we were trailing for like half the game. Kind of better captures that we battled an awful team for a while even if we ultimately pulled away.

I kinda like it.

Every time I watch Kentucky I get annoyed we didn't have Wade for that game. I think we beat that team most of the time.

A 24/1 A/TO ratio for Ole Miss has to be a record

I get the idea also but the NCAA tournament is so much about performing well in the clutch and I wish there was some sort of bonus for efficiency in the last 4 minutes of the game in close games.

Marquette has lost their 2nd straight game and falls to the 4/5 seed range.

St. John's gets a huge win but it's really their first good win of the year. Their only other quad 1 win was at Xavier. They won't get a top 3 seed unless they can start stacking some quad 1 wins (2 more winnable chances coming up)

Boy, there are a lot of shots near the basket by both Vandy and UF. Both defenses seem unable to keep a driving opposing player away from the rim. UF seems to be using their height to be just a bit better defensively.

What are your thoughts on Kentucky and Kansas?

Can we count them out yet….as in getting anywhere close to the championship game

Purdue gets the road win to solidify their position as a 2 seed

Ole Miss handles Kentucky pretty easily, both teams will be hanging on that 4/5 seed mix with UK still slightly ahead based on the number of quad 1A wins they have


Florida handles business in the 2nd half to collect another solid win. Stays on the 2 seed line with 2 away games coming @Auburn and @Miss State. Probably needs to take that one in Starkville to stay a 2.

I'm interested to see how Kentucky handles this last month of the season. They feel kinda shaky to me. I know the wins are there.
