Time to get this second win and advance to the Sweet 16! Sampson has tightened up his rotation some, but their 3 guards, Shead, Sharp, and Cryer are a handful. They really haven't played a close game in a while including being blown out by Iowa St last week. Hopefully we can keep our offensive mojo going and defend and hit the boards.

It appears to be a 'strength on strength' matchup plus a team our guys have already seen before and played a good second half against (and that was without boots and before manny got 'hot')

They're also pretty thin as 1 seeds go. I normally don't like playing teams that play like you do but I think we'll be okay.

I would hate to face us right now.

Coogs are very physical defensively and pressure the ball heavily.
Having 3 serious ball handlers is a pretty good recipe to counterattack that pressure.
And we are plenty physical enough to match them.

For you old Aggie bb fans. What is A&M's all time record against UH?

It's actually not as bad as you'd think. It's 54-32 in Houston's favor.

Houston is an incredible team. Talent, coaching, experience - they have it all. Earned that one seed. They have beat good teams in tourney past two years to make it to the second weekend of the dance.

It's a single game elimination tournament and anything can happen in one game. I think we'll need another variable to help us win, UH foul trouble or cold shooting or injury. But we will compete.


I'm sure we'll just do what we do, but might be worth looking at how ISU plays them since two of UH 4 losses are to ISU. But one was at ISU and close and one was Big 12 tourney where UH maybe getting some rest - so perhaps fools gold there too.

I didn't watch any of the Iowa State/Houston game, but at least we know that they aren't invincible.

We probably won't have Hef taking ten shots tomorrow either.

The +10 feels very frothy , but A& M is like Forest's Gump's box of chocolates… you just never know what you're gonna get. If the Ags play like they did yesterday we could win.

I do agree with you on that statement. It's definitely going to be an interesting matchup. We've been a different team since the calendar flipped to March, especially offensively. This game most likely will do a 180 on pace of play from our recent games. Their guards are their strength like ours and they will defend. Hopefully our guards can keep getting buckets. Things are different now with Mannys role, but I do think any chance we get to keep Houston out of the half court defense, we have to take advantage of everyone of those opportunities and push the pace on those possessions. .

I have alot if other thoughts on this game and I'm really looking forward to this matchup.

I can't remember the last time he made a shot…and he won't be able to defend Houston's quickness.

I don't quite understand the posters who say they aren't worried about Houston and that we can easily win. I think things have to go pretty perfectly for us to have a chance to win. We really don't have any margin for error. Need everyone to stay out of foul trouble and need to be able to hit 3's. (I'm worried we used up all of our 3's yesterday - haha.) And we need Andy to be back to normal Andy. And Henry to build off what he did yesterday.

Houston is so athletic and big. We overwhelmed Nebraska with our athleticism and intensity. Houston is going to try to do the same to us. Not sure we have the depth to overcome any foul trouble or someone having an off night.

Hoping we stay on a roll and keep it close. Anything can happen in a close game.

I have watched both teams alot this year.

If UH plays their A game, it will not be close.

If we play our A game and they play their B/C game, we may be able to pull it out.

UH wins 9 out of 10 times.

I don't think it will be an easy win. It will be interesting to see how we match up now considering we are much better and healthier than earlier in the year.

That game happened so long ago that it seems like we played them last season. It felt like they had home court advantage, but we managed to hang on.

We won't be afraid of them at all and Wade/Manny/Boots/Solo are playing like they have something to prove.

The hardest team to beat is the team that has nothing to lose. I know they'll be ready.

Mention that per Torvik since March 1st Texas A&M has been statistically the 6th best team in the country. Houston has been the 2nd with UConn first.

Opined that if the same March version of this A&M team shows up tomorrow this is closer to a #1 vs #2 seed quality of matchup than a typical #1 vs #9.


Lean Houston but very intriguing matchup.

People are saying it, it's out there. Many people, with regards to Cougars, big cats, beautiful cats. Some people say no cats, but I like the cats. Not as good as dogs. But good. The Aggies have a dog, beautiful dog. That's probably better than a cat when you think about it. This is what they're saying. Are they right? That cats missing part of its paw, probably a weak cat if it's missing part of a paw, I prefer whole cats.

This is a great post that even includes some UH tradition nuggets and its lack of stars is a tragedy.

I'm probably the only Aggie that finds "cougar high" to be cringey.
