Yeah, I agree that stud athletes are generally better off not getting sucked into conversations that might be edited in compromising ways.
Still, this "whatever it was" certainly happened more than two weeks ago, so I get the impression that even if the reporters that depend on A&M sports have been told to say nothing (and maybe told not to ask) it would have leaked out to me by now if I was at a higher level in Aggiedom.
I would bet the reporters that cover A&M sports don't know for the most part. People know. People posting on this board know. But they aren't leaking it to a message board (nor should they) and they aren't leaking it to reporters on A&M sports as they know that could cause it to leak wide. This athletic department doesn't like to leak injuries. They certainly don't want details of any university process of an athlete to be leaked.
True, though I'd say the reporters that cover A&M basketball are a far cry from those that cover football. Football you have some true investigative reporting, basketball is very much a "we'll take what news we officially get".
But I think solely the fact that nothing
has leaked to the message boards or twittersphere means whatever this is, is A) Serious and B) Very tight-lipped because of A. Bobinator isn't even talking on the Kansas message boards about it.
A large # of people knew 24 hours or so before Liucci "broke/was-allowed-to-release" the news that Weigman was done for the year -- this was still while Jimbo was at the presser saying it was day-to-day. That's about as big a news as you can get in A&M athletics and you still had plenty of people discussing it behind the scenes long before news broke.
No news isn't good news in this scenario IMO.
