From the start to the end of this thread it appears that the consensus among TexAgs posters AND current bracketologist is a likely 6 seed.
I've consistently opined that a 6 seed is our floor and really prefer a 5 seed - which I believe a strong case could be made for NOW - and perhaps the committee, maybe in an effort to right last year's wrong (right - "dream on" you tell me) will throw us a bone with a 5 seed if we win tonight.
I am especially wary of a 6 seed due to the fact someone brought up in the last week or so that, since expansion to 68 teams, 6 seeds have not fared particularly well against 11 seeds that have already played in Dayton and could be riding a bit of momentum (see UCLA as a Dayton team in recent years).
For example, if Utah State and Mississippi State are slotted as 11 seeds in Dayton, I think the winner of that game would be a tough out for any 6 seed.
For that reason, I might actually prefer the 7 seed if we cannot get a 5 seed.
Still, of multiple postulated brackets out this a.m. - this is one that I could actually embrace even though it does pit us against that dreaded Dayton winner (Penn State or Arizona State) - as it also puts us in my preferred #1 (Houston) region, gives us a beatable 3 seed (Gonzaga) to get to the Sweet 16 and also includes a potential interesting clash with the sips on that first game of the second weekend.
