Aggie Basketball's Davis, Williams & Starks earn All-SEC recognition

Three Aggie basketball players took home SEC honors on Tuesday as the league's coaches announced their annual awards.

Center Tyler Davis was named to the All-SEC First Team, and forward Robert Williams was pinned as Co-SEC Defensive Player of the Year and placed on the All-SEC Defensive Team. Point guard TJ Starks was named to the All-SEC Freshman team to round out the awards.

Named to the All-SEC Second Team in 2016-'17, Davis has been a strength for the Aggies all season. The dominant big man is averaging 14.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game going into the SEC Tournament and shoots 58.2 percent from the field.

Davis has also been a vocal leader for Texas A&M on the court and an unshakable presence during a somewhat tumultuous season.

Williams, who was named the conference's defensive player of the year last year, returns to the pedestal this season, sharing the honor with South Carolina's Chris Silva. The incredibly athletic sophomore has been terrorizing opponents in the paint all year and averages 2.5 blocks per game to go along with 10 points and 9 rebounds.

Dynamic point guard TJ Starks began the year coming off the bench for head coach Billy Kennedy but was forced to step into a starting spot with the injury to senior Duane Wilson. Since taking over as a starter, Starks has averaged 14.2 points per game and is shooting 44.3 percent from the field.
