You are right in the sense that game planning, play calls, schemes make more of an impact in football than in basketball.GE said:Football is so much more dependent on coaching than basketball that it's almost laughable to make the comparison.Agnzona said:It's absolutely true. Look at history. The NBA or college it's all about the coaches. Look at the Lakers and Celtics history or even the Rockets.CactusThomas said:Agnzona said:
Basketball more than any other team sport is a coaches sport
Flagged for trolling. No one could believe this.
The rub though is during the game the head football coach can be somewhat of a CEO type, with his delegated men running various aspects, calling plays, etc. The head coach also only has access to one official- so it's harder to "work the officials" if you so chose. That role would hypothetically suit BK VERY WELL.
Unfortunately, in basketball it doesn't work that way. Only the head coach is allowed to even stand up for an extended period of time during game play and he's the only one who can extensively complain to (all 3) officials during play. A good sideline coach has the ability to direct play, preemptively avoid turnovers, know during game play when timeouts should be called, best get makeup calls, know the best rotations to play given the circumstances, etc. All told, because of the speed of the game and sideline restrictions, it is hard to delegate this stuff. BK is a poor sideline coach as a result and puts us at a relatively disadvantage compared to other stronger coaches.
