Well we struck out on Gillon but this Hampton guy averaged 16 PPG last year... Who would you rather have?

Hampton fills the need just fine. Gillon is a better player I think but j am perfectly happy with Hampton

Gillon was a smokescreen, we really wanted Hampton all along.

Gillon definitely seemed legit and had offers from bHampton it is unclear to me if he is. I would have preferred Gillon.

FWIW, Hampton told Jeff Goodman a few days ago that he was considering "Alabama, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss or East Carolina." Gillon's list was more impressive, but it's not like Hampton is some scrub.

I think Gillon was probably our first choice, but I don't think there is much of a drop off from Gillon to Hampton.

The Mountain West Conference, where Gillon played last year, was the #10 conference in the nation.
The Atlantic Sun Conference, where Hampton played, was #24.
The SEC was #6

It's going to be a huge leap in competition for Hampton.

I want the guy that wants us.

The thing is... he doesn't have to be THAT good to really help us. We just need someone who can give us what? 10-15 minutes and not have the entire world crater while they're in there?

If anything the biggest contribution could be just having someone quick for Caldwell to face in practice.

Without seeing all these guys out on the court in their new roles, I'm not sure we know what we need.

Have any of you seen this guy play before? Seems like he might be more of a combo guard than a pure 1. Doesn't have a ton of assists but that doesn't mean that much if they needed him to be a primary scorer.

From the Alabama basketball message board, when it was announced a week or so back that Hampton was planning to visit them.

In term of comparing him to Anthony Collins, he may certainly end up being an upgrade offensively (which of course was not Collins' strength). Collins was very good defensively though and had a much more established resume against better competition.

Just seems like it will be hard for us to know what Hampton is going to be able to do until we see this guy play a few games versus better competition.

We need a supporting cast for Gilder and Davis. I saw enough last year to be pretty confident of that.
