It's been a while since I've seen it and I may have missed something, but I didn't like Glory Road at all.


To make some kind of "statement" the coach benches the white kids in the championship game. Despite the fact they worked just as hard as everyone else on the team to get to that point, and their reward is to not play in the biggest moment of their life? Screw that...

Basketball documentaries:
1. The Dream Team: awesome doc on the 92' dream team. I wasn't even born, so I had no idea how much of an international impact that team had.
2. Doin' It In The Park: doc about the history of New York park basketball. Absolutely fascinating.)
3. Hoop Dreams: just all around greatness
4. Reggie Miller vs. The New York Knicks/Bad Boys/Once Brothers: all three of these 30 for 30s are equally great
5. The Other Dream Team: story of the players on the USSR olympic team and how they were basically enslaved to playing for the USSR instead of their home country of Lithuania. Also a fascinating break down of basketball in Lithuania, their national sport.

Everyone that says Hoosiers is not #1 is just plain wrong.

So you still haven't seen the pistol?

OK, time to put an end to this nonsense. The very first movie about big-time college basketball was One-on-One w Robbie Benson. Here are several classic clips that should be in the vault of every basketball movie junkie.

And the classic finale...

That's cinematic gold right there.

All other basketball movies, even Hoosiers, are fighting for second after The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh.
