If you haven't shown without a doubt you belong in the tournament what chance do you really have of winning it? How many teams out of 65 have a legit shot to win the tournament? I don't see any point in adding more meaningless games.

I think there should be 96 teams in the tournament. Have a pre-round that gets it to 64. All of the "weak" teams would be in the pre-round like the conference winners from small conferences (ie; America University).
A team like OSU deserves it far more than these teams just because they won their conference.
96 teams would be perfect in my opinion.
128 is way too many.

that would pretty much render the regular season COMPLETELY useless.

that would absolutely suck.

I wish all 300+ teams would get in. And the NIT would go away because there's no more use for them. And then baseball will go away because there's no more TV time for that crap because the NCAA Tourny would last until May. It will be allsome!!!

That's what the NIT is for.

why dont we just let whoever wants to play get a team together and play in the tournament?

season would be virtually meaningless for the big conferences with more competition and higher ratings for that competition.

I agree with the idea of expanding to 68 teams with a play-in game in each region.

As it stands with one play-in game, it's as if those two teams are in the tournament - not really.

Have four play-in games -- doubleheaders in two locations: Dayton is one, I guess; maybe someplace like Boone NC or Albany NY or Tulsa OK for the second? Now it is not such a slap in the face to be in the play-in. Or, maybe it is, lessened by the fact that misery loves company.

horrible idea. When 16s start beating 1s, then consider it. Expanding to 128 right now would be like handing out green "Participation" ribbons

IT has nothing to do with 16s. Those 16s would now be, what, 32s? IT would just add many more marginally legit at large teams.
