Wasn't that the #1/#9 matchup right before we played Louisville last year? If I recall, I think Xavier damn near won that game.

Oh yeah, and I believe Xavier beat #8 BYU before that.

They did. I was there for it, and it rates among one of the top basketball games I watched last year. They will be a tough out this year I think in the Sweet 16. But they may rely on Lavender a little too much to make it past Duke.

Xavier had that game... Xavier was within a few points when Oden fouled out and threw one of the Xavier players to the ground after they called the foul on him but nothing was called for the take down.

That's what I thought. I remember watching that game and thinking how impressed I was that Xavier was playing with Ohio State. If I recall, I think it was a pretty pro-OSU crowd as well, save for all of the Louisville fans rooting for Xavier at the end.

here's my blog on that game from last year...

Not only was our game great, the Xavier/Ohio State was amazing as well.
Despite fouling out, Greg Oden gets away with fouls like he’s Kevin Durant, I’m not sure why the officials decide that certain players are immune to fouling but Oden had about 15 fouls and was only called for 5. Despite the disparity, Xavier should have won that game. Greg Oden got away with a throw-down that should have been a flagrant foul and given Xavier 2 free throws and the ball. However, it was just a personal foul and Xavier got 2 free throws to try and add onto their 2 point lead. They only made one and Ohio State came back and nailed the three to tie it up with 2 seconds left. Overtime was all Ohio State, I can’t remember, but I think there may have only been one or two possessions where they didn’t score. It was still a great game, Xavier has a really good team. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to knock Ohio State out of the tournament.

Apparently, I really hated the treatment Oden got that game.

Xavier had a good sized crowd there, too. And they were very vocal.

That was a great game.

Xavier should have fouled instead of giving up the 3.

That's kind of how I felt when we beat KSU, but when you win, you made the right choice.

Using last year as a frame of reference has no validity.

That was a great game. I got some pretty good pictures from that game. I sat with some X fans for part of the game.

That was a FANTASTIC game to attend. Ohio State's coach had lied to Xavier and ditched them for Ohio State that year. It was a helluva game and the fans (especially Xavier's) were really going nuts.

How could we use that game as a frame for reference? I was just thinking about our games last year, and I thought about that one. I then remembered that Xavier was a #9 playing a #1.

I was pulling for Xavier too as they had some good fans at our hotel. We sort of form an alliance with them to drown outthe Louisville and Ohio St.'s.

X should have had that game. They were stunned.

Was that Conley who hit the three at the end of regulation?

Lexington was just an awesome pod site.

First, Rupp is probably the best arena that I've watched ANY basketball game in... PERIOD.

Then you had a crapload of fans for 3 of the first round winners within a short driving distance: Columbus, Cincy, and Louisville.

One of the greatest Gus Johnson calls of all time when OSU hit the tying three at the end of regulation...

Your first Xavier should have been OSU.
