Just listen to about 5 minutes of the nova - georgetown game... the guy will not shut up about poor officiating, and it's not bad at all. There's just something about him that is really annoying.

He's from here (charlotte) and he's on local sportstalk regularly. The other day he was asked about officiating and he did a nice job talking about how inconsistent college officiating is in basketball. He was very complimentary of NBA officials.

He said that NCAA officials don't study game film (before of after), don't know team/player tendencies, may work as many nights in a row as they want to, and are poorly supervised. Sounded pretty logical.

I'd actually prefer having the refs NOT know player/team tendencies.. ie: this team travels alot, call alot of travels even if perhaps they are not that night..

No, it can be a real issue. I remember an article last year. Essentially college refs can travel all over the county, officiate several days in a row on little rest, and just collect paychecks.

Most college referees have real jobs as well, whereas NBA refs do that as their full-time job. It makes sense that they wouldn't be as good.

i hate refs after that crappy call with 0.1 left to decide a huge game for villanova
