I probably eat a slightly higher than average amount of beef jerky, compared to the rest of the population and I'm growing tired of the price. I was looking to try and smoke some of my own this weekend. Does anybody have a good recipe looking for a sweet heat type of flavor

The Spicy Sweet and Teriyaki II are my personal favorites.

I wish I could figure out the recipe at the Texas A&M meat market on campus. Still some of my favorite jerky of all time.

For $ savings look into a "jerky shooter" gun. Basically an extruder looks like a caulk gun that makes it out of ground beef. Sounds funny but it's great!

Alton Brown has a decent recipe that I modify slightly - you can find it on food network easily. I find eye round roast as the best cut of meat to use. I grab a couple packages at Costco and slice them up and marinade 24 hours + and then dehydrate it. Smoking would of course be better but it's easier in the dehydrator.
