There use to be a good number of Delaware Subs in Austin. Now only one. Great cheese steak.

Go to Thundercloud as it convenient.

Pickles and almond butter on white.

It tastes like hearing the Beatles for the first time.

No offense, but that looks/sounds terrible.

I don't think that is either.

A proper pulled pork sandwich pic would have the coleslaw on the sandwich.

I went to a new place in Houston near the Heights called the World of Sourdough. Looks to be a chain, but this is the first one in Houston. I ordered the Reuben. The sourdough gave it a different twist. I will definitely be back to try some others. They have a good looking menu.

Papa Geno's in Houston for a cheesesteak. On the Charley's only being in malls, at least in the Houston area there are several stand alone locations. I will probably misspell it but nobody likes muffuletta? Last thing, RIP but there us to be a great sandwich shop in Northgate caddy corner to the post office, it was called Farmers Market, fantastic subs!

Hospital food

Holy cow. What hospital? We did a 90 day stint in the NICU for our first born in the first part of this year down in the med center at CMH. Thankfully they had bbq at one of their cafe's that was a solid 5.5/10. It was good enough. This you've posted… is a travesty.

A: if you're in Texas, why order pulled pork? We don't do pork butt down here. It's like trying to find some scrapple. It's just not something you find done well here.

B: going bbq at a hospital is ballsy.

C: could you not see it before ordering? Holy crap man this looks dead awful.

Go try a cheesesteak at Rocky's Subs in greenspoint.

Best in town.

Tony's Italian Deli in Montgomery/Spring/Katy is a must if you've never had it. Their hot subs get all the hype, but i usually get a cold one and save half for later. Love Pappa Gyros in Katy as well for pitas and Italian beef.

*Didn't know the Tony's in Katy closed.

I used to eat at Central Market often for their BYO sandwiches.

JJ's bread is legit, and their locations smell wonderful. Also usually clean which is important.

Roly Poly was a good small chain back in the day, but i dunno how many locations are left.

Primo Hoagies has several Houston area locations now. Good east coast chain.

I used to eat at Potbelly more until they screwed up their chicken salad and started adding red onion. Dicks. Let people add it separately if they want that crap in theirs.

I'd like to try Thundercloud again. Haven't had em in a long time but rarely go to Austin anymore.

If ya like BLT's then order one at Buc-ee's some time.

I forgot the fantastic deli at the big Spec's on Smith St. I'll go there just to grub sometimes.

Tony's Italian Delicatessen for anyone traveling Northside Houston to College Station. Probably the best Italian sub between here and there. One in Montgomery and one in Tomball. If you have not been, go out of your way if you want an outstanding sub. I usually go with the Stallone & add red sauce.

Tonys Italian Delicatessen Nationally Famous Italian Subs and Deli
My parents have lived in April Sound on Lake Conroe right across the street for over 15 years and I had always seen it driving to their house. Had it for the first time a week ago when I was staying up there and wanted something quick before I came back downtown.

I have never wanted to get online and 5 star review anything as quick as this but it was hands down the best sandwich I have ever had. No contest to anything I have had in Houston. I will definitely be frequenting this when I visit the parents or when I head up to college station along the 105 route.

Never been to Kenny & Ziggy's in the Galleria area i take it?

Let's talk mustard.

Totally agree. I usually enjoy mustard on my sandwiches but Jersey Mikes has potent mustard and big servings. I literally looked at the three mustards they offered and passed on them.
Mike's Way, no onions, add pickles is the way for me.

I'm a mustard fan but usually don't need it on a sub because it can ruin it. Extra oil and vinegar if needed.

I love a good muffuletta, but Central Grocery in NOLA ruined me. Haven't had one better since.

Whoever mentioned Blimpies earlier….man, what a throwback. I remember going a bunch 25+ years ago.

In Houston I'm a big fan of Brown Bag Deli and Little Jimmy's Deli.

Jersey Mikes is my go to chain - mikes way + pepper relish in cold subs is hard to beat.

Primos I've only been to once but it was legit.

I did this and added mayo. It's my go-to add-on now.

That looks like canned dog food dumped on a cheap ass bun.

The "slaw" looks like what came up from my stomach after contemplating eating that mess on the bun.
