We're in the process of building a new home and plan to install a natural gas grill on our covered back patio. Ill keep the Big Green Egg for smoking but want a quality product for everyday grilling. My builders usual source recommends one of the two below. Does anyone have experience with either? Open to any and all recommendations.

The Lion runs about $2200 and the Broilmaster around $2800.

Thanks!

Not a built in, but really like the dual purpose of this. Maybe there's a built in version made by someone else.

I would reach out to Sam (poster on here) that owns Creekstone Outdoor Living. I recently did an outdoor kitchen up in DFW, and although he's in Houston, he was still cheaper than everyone else and shipped it all to me. He talked me into Fire Magic. For the price, I was expecting the Fire Magic to be much better than the Bull I had at my last house but it's not. I wouldn't buy Fire Magic again. I would call Sam though and get his opinion (and maybe pricing). Seems like he's got a lot of experience in the field and he was very nice to work with in this crazy new world of supply chain hiccups.

Why are outdoor kitchen components so expensive?

I bought Aspire by Hestan from bbqguys. Love it.

To completely derail your thread, you need to get an Evo Flattop Grill. Best purchase I think I've ever made. It's really fun to cook on.

Agree 100% with agcrock and came to post the same thing. I installed a Coyote gas grill in our outdoor kitchen 10 years ago but never really used it. The convenience is nice but it never cooks anything all that great.

If I had it to do over again, I'd install a flat top grill. Can cook just about anything you'd want to do quickly on your gas grill but also has the function of cooking the best breakfasts and burgers possible.

A 3rd option from my brother-in-law: instead of a gas grill, install a higher-end pellet grill (he installed a Yoder). The pellet grills can be ready to cook about as quickly as a gas grill, and the high-end gas grills cost around as much as a good pellet pooper.

FWIW, I can't recommend a Coyote.

My only experience with built in gas grills is American Outdoor Grills (AOG) and I do not recommend them. Mine was completely falling apart in year 7 and they don't have part level replacements, so any issue to fix feels like overkill and too much money.

Only other advice during install is to ensure no gaps in the mount - rats can get in and literally found rat poop on the burner grates. Make sure it's flush or has mesh to prevent anything from climbing in from underneath. And no we didn't get the opportunity to kill them with fire.
Aren’t we lucky?

BBQ Outfitters is Aggie owned and has locations in Austin and San Antonio but also ships anywhere with price matching guaranteed.

Depending on your price point, I would go with Alfresco or their junior line, Artisan. They are 100% Made in America and their warranty process is top notch with replacement parts shipped to you immediately.

I recently built our outdoor kitchen and for the previous reasons listed, decided against a gas grill. Granted, I have an Egg so I can still "grill," but I went with a Blaze flat top, and a drop down for a Blaze power burner. So far I don't regret my decision at all.
