Show me your pics and ballpark cost would be appreciated. I'm thinking sink, fridge, tv, island, bge, joe jr, gas grill, flattop. Price wise somewhere in the 5-10k range, but flexible. Already have the ceramic grills so that saves some $$.

Yup. Learned recently you are looking at about $600 per linear foot for counters with basic granite and tile face. And plumbing for a sink is going to cost a fortune if city code requires you drain out to the street.

Outdoor contractors can name their price right now.

We hit $22k for 20ft of counters (7.5 on 1 side of patio, 12.5 on opposite), 2door storage, a fridge, 2 basket trash bin, 3 drawer stack, and an Evo griddle. Plus a couple of outlets for the counters.

Ok so the 5-10k range might need some adjusting but I can convince the wife with pretty pics.

Mine is under construction. Give me a week or so.

Our built in flat top (blaze) alone was $2k. You're probably looking at $15k to $20k for what all you're wanting

Pain the ass to walk around until construction ends hopefully this week. Looks fun though

Ours is under construction as well. Probably 3 weeks out depending on the weather....next 3 days are a washout. Would 2nd the post on the counter cost. If it's not a far walk to the kitchen I would blow off the sink....cost, permits and drainage. We're installing gas grill, commercial flat top and a Memphis pellet smoker. Good luck!

I thought we could get something built with a budget of $20k, quote was $45.

And we already have H/C water stubbed out, 110V/20A unsued circuit in place with wiring run to the area and sewer tied into our house system. Appliances alone will cost you $10-15k.

we are also in the planning stages for this, but we will just have a gas grill, no sink, no fridge, and either a gas or wood burning fireplace and a big screen tv, and a big ceiling fan. We have sort of kind of budgeted $50k.
What do you boys want for breakfast BBQ ?.....OK Chili.

Would rethink that. Pretty pics don't have price tags. Everything on Pinterest starts at 40k for outdoor patios.

Part of the reason contractors can name their price is wives getting on Pinterest, declaring they 'have to have it' just like in the photo and telling you to make it work.

If it's done well and fits our needs, the wife would be ok with 30-50K. She's just as on board with the outdoor kitchen as I am. Good thing I haven't told her I was thinking it would be in the 5-10K range. I'm also wondering how much of the work I can do.

We close on the house Oct 12, so see you on Oct 13?

I'm not really sure when this will get started but I'm thinking maybe next spring?

I know you already have ceramic grills, but of she'll do 30k-50k.....

Komodo Kamado grills

Also consider infrared heaters and audio. We pre-wired for audio when we built the house last year as well as high voltage lines for heaters. We had those installed early COVID so wasn't factored into the kitchen budget.

I'll save those for the next home we buy.

You need to budget quite a bit more or downgrade wish list. I would start by ditching the sink....adding plumbing is a significant cost for minimal use IMO.

To help with reducing costs down to budget instead of listing the toys, list the purpose you want the outdoor space to be for.

It looks like you want to be able to:
-clean dishes, wash hands from raw meat (sink)
-store cold things outside year round, and dry (fridge)
-watch football (tv-thats a no brainer)
-have a place for people to sit at while you cook/entertain (island)
-have a bunch of different built in cooking areas like a BGE or a flatop.

If you rank order them what would that look? And are you spending the most money on things you want the most?

Because you could accomplish 90% of that with a large covered patio that a small bar area for prep. Buy a BGE set up with wheels or a flatiron set up with wheels as well. Have a large back patio table.

Here's an update to my $5K outdoor kitchen. That budget has been SMASHED. Would be interested in any feedback. We are already changing out a few things such as adding steps on the left side, which will cause some rearranging of the counter space. To give some scale, the gable cover is roughly 16'x18'. I wish we could remove the steps but we have a substantial grade difference from the house door to the yard.

Haha I'm not even sure if smashed is the right word for the scope creep on budget

That is going to be beautiful. I love the gray mixed size flooring.

Our concern with the flooring is the shifting soils in Denver, but we've found a few contractors that warranty pavers for 25 years. I don't want to replace our existing deck with another deck.

Following is a best-cost solution for an outdoor kitchen guaranteed to be the talk of the neighborhood and make memories:

1. Dig hole in yard for fire pit, sized to fit old pallets.
2. Piece of expanded metal stolen from the job site last year - to throw on coals for a grill.
3. Cracked Igloo cooler full of icy cold ones. Spend most of budget on plenty of cold ones.
4. Pull truck next to fire. Both truck doors open blasting Rockin Sydney's "Don't Mess With My Toot-Toot" from the truck radio.
5. Tailgate down as a serving counter and a place to put the battery TV if watching the game.
6. Lawn chairs and five gallon buckets, don't forget to save a little gasoline to pour on the fire ant nests near the chairs. Unless it's your brother in law's chair, then sprinkle Lay's potato chips crumbs around it.
7. Invite plenty of kids, dogs, new divorcees on the prowl for #3, and neighbors from all sides. Make sure at least one is good at telling off color jokes and flattening beer cans on his (or her) head.

Hope this helped, you're welcome!

Which contractor did you go with? We are in DoCo and are looking at either a basement remodel or an outdoor kitchen this spring.
The Pilot
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Don't have a contractor yet. The designer is inside/outside spaces. They also build but we'll likely get a few bids before deciding. We are also in DougCo, near Quebec/MacArthur ranch.

I'll be following your progress. We are just around the corner, off Grigs, near the entrance to Daniel's Park.

Kudos for getting a land.arch to design (it appears anyway) but now best to get second opinions from a) design-build landscaper with web high ratings, b) outdoor kitchen appliance design-build, honest enough to relate which appliances are most used and those worth the money from past specialized experience.

Your plans are too well developed to ruin them here with us laymen.
That said, I appreciate most the offer from Animal Eight 84, assumed to be an Aggie Vet '84.
Our VETERINARIANs seem to be our most creative clients but can't explain why.

Designer tip: hubbies will never completely sell wives, best have a pro intervene and at least find a compromise if they can't sell your ideas themselves ... always been, sorry

Good point. Is it a thing in Denver to build drainage under the flooring and tie it into the sump pump for your home foundation? This assumes you have one for your basement. I remember our Aggie realtor putting the fear of God in us ruining our foundation by trying to treat our flour beds and foundation like we still live in TX.

Our home had a sump pump that we could monitor via access in the basement. Didn't stay in Denver long-enough to learn about stuff like this for future construction. I think the most we did was have a patio poured w/a stamped concrete surface since the builder's budget on the spec we bought skimped in the yard and had only stairs going down to the yard from the patio door .

Deck has been demoed, we tentatively have agreed to a paver builder but sitll exploring paver options.

The designer was steering us towards Belgard paver that had clean smooth edges but after talking with a builder my wife liked a paver from Techo-Bloc, but it comes with an 8K increase. Any other brands we should explore or avoid?

The new hope is to keep this thing under $100K.

Since you've destroyed your budget, you might as well throw an Evo in there somewhere. I've had mine for 9 months or so, and it's awesome. So easy to cook on and keep clean, unlike the stainless griddles. Strongly recommend. Look forward to seeing yours when completed.

How big are those? I was leaning towards a 30" blaze and a power burner nearby.

Think width is about 36", and you'd need room on the sides too because multiple people tend to get involved when you're cooking. People want to gather around it too, so they're good for a corner where people can sit and watch, or where people can be on the other side of it, rather than next to a wall or in corner that's blocked off.

Here is where our kitchen design stands. The wood posts are likely moving to just outside the paver patio. The egg currently sits in the corner. I guess I could swap the griddle and egg if we go with the EVO. I'd put the power burner on the south end near the new location for the egg.
agcrock2005

That's similar to mine. I'd put the Evo where you have the egg. Here's what I built. Love the Evo in the corner where people can sit and watch, or help cook.
