I'm looking for a decent set of steak knives to replace some ones we got for our wedding 14 years ago. We don't really eat a lot of steak (more chicken), so that is a little bit of a misnomer, but I think you know what I'm talking about.

I thought I've found some but want to hear from TexAgs. One of the things I want to avoid are the water spots some get that some reviews point out. If I can get them on Amazon that is a huge bonus since I have some gift cards that were meant for this purchase.

I have a set of Laguiole knockoffs with a straight edge that are awesome. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JNRNEKO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_eQyYDbD7839RZ
Whatever you do, get a straight edge. Serrated edge steak knives suck.

Correct. We have the same knock offs but with serrated blades and they're terrible.

This board has taught me many things, but the straight edge steak knife lesson is the one I took to heart the most.

That said, I'm about 17 months away from a custom steak knife set from Bloodroot Blades. (I have a thing for custom knives, may post them all one day)

My wife gets really embarrassed when we go to Myrons and I bring my own steak knife.

Serrated knives "chew" your meat as you cut. Straight edge gives you a cleaner cut and better mouthfeel.

Not sure if that's the TexAgs reasoning everyone is referring to, but, that's why I do it

Same here. With a serrated blade, that first bite always tastes like shredded meat.

Are these the ones you have? Wasn't sure of that price point, but if they are good, that could change my mind.

Nothing wrong with that. These are great to keep with you when eating out.

Here is Serious Eats reviews. The first one is available on Amazon and inexpensive.

At first glance I thought that perceval was a great looking steak knife. Then I saw the price.
Also like the Laguiole en Aubrac.

My wife picked up a few Shun knives for me recently, so I would probably get the Shun steak knives to be consistent.

My Shun boning knife is the sharpest piece of steel I have ever used on anything.

Yes. I went through my past Amazon orders to find them.

I have a set of Wusthof Classic I bought off Amazon. Expensive but so incredibly sharp and I'll probably never have to buy another set of steak knives.

I've got a cheap set of Henkels with slight serrated edge for daily use that go in the dishwasher.

Have a couple nicer hand wash sets that get used maybe monthly.
