Ok. Maybe not Macdonald or Pott level.

But I have not had too many Pinot Noirs that I loved. So we recently visited Rovers Marie and I got a shipment. And then in my honeymoon I randomly discovered South Africa's Burn Cottage.

Both are the $75 range but I found them very similar. Beautiful Pinot color. Classical pinot flavor profile and incredibly enjoyable.


I would say these will be staples for me. Great value wines.

need to try their Sonoma Coast offering. Been a while since I tried a single vineyard pinot from RM, didn't appeal to me at that time.

The single vineyard bottlings are quite different from each other, so if you like new world pinot at all they likely have something that scratches your itch. Summa is my favorite of theirs, and B. Theriot is a close second. I generally only buy 1-2 from those and 4-5 Sonoma Coast every year.

I am a huge fan of Sonoma Coast pinots that are multi-vineyard blends. Some of the best bang for your buck wines out there. The fluctuations from vineyard to vineyard and producer to producer can definitely be large for the single vineyard pinots of Sonoma.

Burgundy pioneered clones. Most Burgundies consist of several different clones.

Those multi-vineyard blends are likely multi-clonal blends.

First time I've had the Screaming Eagle. Very, very good. Big and broad. Tobacco, dark fruits, leathery.

Maya is still my all time favorite wine. 2002 is the best I've had

Macdonald's about 8 years. I'd totally forgotten about it. Haven't met Alex in person, but we've emailed and I've sent him some wine.

I think MacDonald was about 8 years if you signed up a decade or more ago. If you signed up in the last 5 years or so, I'd be really surprised if your number got called in 8 years. I'd guess at least 15.

Ver layered, nice amount of tartness. Red fruits, currant, hits roof of the mouth. Reminds me of the best version of a Le Pavots
