How long have you been getting Kongsgaard? Always been intrigued in that winery.

I had a 2013 Judge a few months ago. It was damn near perfect. I only recently signed up for the mailing list. Bought the regular chard last year after a short wait and got allocated Judge this year. I haven't decided if I'll buy any, as I'm totally full at home.

My first time buying from the marathon.

Should have done a better job of keeping my powder dry for the long haul but I got overanxious.

I got a 2007 Rocca Family Vineyards merlot, a 2018 Petroni cab franc, a 2019 Chaix cab and some Spanish wines.

Never had anything from Rocca, Petroni or Chaix, so it's kind of an adventure.

I might buy more if the price is right. Dang, this thing is addictive.

ETA: It's tough to work when you're focused on the next bottle,

I feel like I'm seeing a good number of repeat items from the last marathon. I get seeing repeat daily offerings now lumped into the marathon, but I am a bit bummed to see so much from the last one.

A few I checked and the marathon price was in line with the average price on cellar tracker. That normal?

I did try to buy a Chateauneuf du Pape but it was gone when I clicked.

There are definitely a lot of good deals on the marathon and last bottle in general, but I like to think of their prices as similar to Black Friday where the price was jacked up the day before to make it seem like a smokin' deal.

Some of the benefit too is getting access to back vintages with good provenance, or some allocated and/or low production stuff.

I bought a Judge and 2 regulars. I think I could only get 1 judge. Could have bought a 750 or a magnum. Magnums are a storage issue for me.

I've decided that one day I will. I'm not sure when or how, but it's on my bucket list. I'd love to do a side by side with a Romanee-Conti and a Richebourg.

Had this tonight with lamb skewers. It can still go for a while, but if you're wanting to drink it now, serve it with some rich and fatty meat. It's fantastic.

Opened a 2004 Dom Perignon and a 2014 Maybach for dinner with friends tonight. I moved to Houston 20 years ago today (and met my wife three days later), so went with the 20 year old champagne. It was very enjoyable but still very young. The Maybach was in a great place.

Edit: meant to gig em with a thumbs up.

Good luck! I have invested in Myriad and Kongsgaard. I'm pretty good with that for now. Supplement that with Perrissos here in Texas.

Would love a taste, but that's a high price!

I wouldn't buy the bottles to drink at my house. I'm thinking a dinner at Hotel Le Richebourg in Vosne-Romanee where you are within walking distance of both vineyards when I have something meaningful to celebrate.

Thai-style shrimp and grits night with Riesling from Alsace. Alsace makes some great whites that don't have notoriety of whites from the rest of France.

My wife prefers grits to rice. Coconut milk, lime, and coriander make it work. The shrimp recipe was a Lotus of Siam copycat.
