I assume several of you are on the William & Mary list. I was planning to buy a 3 or 6 pack as usual, but his notes make it sound like the wines aren't very good this vintage. Have any of you tried his 2022s?
I picked up few of each but I haven't tried them yet. First things first, Will's my friend and a great guy so I love to support him. He didn't raise prices this year while many others are jumping like crazy. He also eats the shipping charges. So he does his clients right so I'll buy very vintage from him. I just wish I had more room to buy more.
Second, 2022 had some challenges across the valley. It was hot. You have trust that your winemaker is doing the right thing. So with that said, I'm only buying Napa 2022s from people I know and trust: Will, Roy, and the MacDonalds are my big three this year. Not that I don't trust some of the others out there, but with the pricing issues lately, I'm supporting the guys that have done me right since day one.
Third, I don't mind the off vintages. The wines of each year tell a story and I like to follow along. I'll just make sure I follow with something a little tastier if the bottle isn't quite pleasing!
Edit: I'll add that I expect them to still be good!
