I moved mine myself. We had about 15 cases and I just went to a liquor store and asked for empty boxes. I was able to fit them all in the back of our SUV without stacking. They survived the ~14 mile move just fine.

Yea you don't need Styrofoam, especially not for a short move. Just have the car cooled down before getting in and keep the AC cranking. Put them in regular wine boxes from the store, as BigAg mentioned.

Took a 2000 Cristal and a 2009 Scarecrow to my buddy's 50th birthday dinner tonight. Both were terrific.

I bought a bunch of Home Depot small heavy duty boxes and double taped them. Then bubble wrapped and stuffed 15 bottles in at a time. Move a car load then empty then do it again. Way easier if you have wine boxes but not everyone has cases and cases of wine boxes sitting around.

Just opened the first bottle from our recent trip. Cab franc from Venge. Nice evening drink.

Unless you work at a winery.

did the same when I moved wine from home to storage location. unloading the boxes from car to space was biggest hassle and definitely strained my old man, out of shape, back some.

Drove out to Austin to see a friend who has been in Europe for the last few years and came back to visit. Took this with me…

What am I missing? My reflection on the decanter? The stuff behind the decanter?

Steve Solari was a bad MF'er who was a member of the wrecking crew back in the early '90s. He'd post of Texags occasionally, but only with the "whoa" emoticon. He passed away a couple of years ago. Way too early. Since we saw the Solari name, we all went Solari on it!

For my first contribution to this thread, I will share some photos of a trip I made to the Bordeaux region in May of this year (we also spent a week in Paris but since this thread is about wine, I am limiting pictures to the right and left banks of Bordeaux). It was a 2nd honeymoon/15 year anniversary gift for my bride. It was an unforgettable trip. I cant wait to go back and explore the Burgundy and Champaign regions.

A small sampling of the amazing wine we drank:

Les sources de Cauladie (our hotel adjacent to Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte)

St. Emilion

Chateau Soutard

Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte

Chateau Guadet. If you have a chance, I highly recommend touring this Chateau. I dont have many photos, but it is within the walls of St Emilion which dates back to the 8th century (but was probably mostly built in the 11th and 12 centuries). It is definitely unique and is preserved in time.

I shipped home a case from each of the 3 vineyards we toured that will only be opened for special occasions and hopefully last years.

Congrats to you both!

I've meaning to try that one again. Had it back in 1999 near release but didn't really appreciate champagne then. Just liked it because it was Dom!
