Your call, but if I were you I'd err on the side of quality over quantity. In my experience the wines will eventually start to run together by the time you get to the third of fourth place.

Trefethen and Truchard were enjoyable as well.

Best overall experience was at Adler Deutsch.

no it was Preston Farms in Dry Creek, I don't remember how we ended up that far out, but it was a good visit, just a looonngggg drive.

Dakota Shy and Wheeler were 2 I was looking at. Will have to take a look at Goosecross, hadn't seen that one.

And yah probably do need to hit Schramsberg at some point, I'm not huge on sparkling but my wife would like it and I know its a good tour.

Thanks!

In that case, add Pestoni Family as an option on your list. We shared some wine on their big lawn a few years back and it was a nice pocket of land in the center of the valley.

Even for a Sonoma county trip, Preston is way the heck up there. That is quite the random offshoot from Napa, but props on y'all for making that trek!

And even if you are not a sparkling person, I would highly recommend Schramsberg at least once.

I thought about mentioning this one. Definitely heralded. But price wise it may be much for what was asked? Not sure what all of their portfolio runs.

Don't have to buy, and it's a beautiful property. They've gotten too greeny/leftist for me, but that's a different discussion.

My wife and I just got back from Bordeaux with Bell's Director of Sales. Let me know if you have an issue getting a reservation and I will see what I can do. Taylor Family is a great small winery. Family owned and their tasting room is a gazebo overlooking the vineyard and Silverado Trail.

We visited Paradigm last summer in Oakville. Heidi Barrett is the winemaker. Tasting room is small and unassuming in the middle of the vineyard. Fun tasting and really good wine at a great price point considering the location and the price you pay for a bottle of the neighboring cabs. Big Paradigm fan now after visiting them.

I'm guessing you meant Pestoni Family and not Preston (Dry Creek)?

Anyways, here are some others not on the list that I've been to and enjoyed.

  • Goosecross - stones throw from downtown Yountville, neat little property.
  • Cakebread - Loved my experience here, lot of fans on TexAgs I believe. I did however just hear a sour story of them not replacing a corked bottle for a family friend. Seemed petty and not what you'd expect or want from a winery.

On that Sage Canyon note, Dakota Shy is an option I think has been discusses on here before? I could be mistaking them for Wheeler Farms. Either way I think they're both similar. I've never been to either but they came to mind and were not on your list.

I would do Schramsberg in St. Helena too. IMO a near must-visit, and especially if you've been to near 20 other Napa wineries and not it.
Check out Gallica... former Cakebread winemaker (it is Cakebread family)

Palmaz is very cool. I'll third Aonair. Dakota Shy, AO and Darioush are also good stops. I'll also add Arrow&Branch and Ehlers Estate.

Wine cellar at the restaurant last night was pretty cool,
2000 years old from ancient Roman time. The proprietor told me to go down and pick whatever bottle I like, but thankfully came down quickly to advise. Disappointingly few old bottles given the cellar but very cool experience and reasonably priced.

Spirito DiVino in Trastevere. Not the best food we had in Rome (still very good though), but definitely the absolute best hospitality. Would gladly go back and recommend.

That's where they excavated and found the sculpture that now sits in the Vatican. We did a food tour and actually had a quick meal down there in that cellar.

Yeah, I had read the history and got to spend a good bit of time talking with the owner who was also our server. One piece from this site in the Vatican museum and one in the Capitol Museum, we happened to see them both before we went to the restaurant.

If you liked that, and are ever in Nassau, Bahamas, then go to the Graycliffe Restaurant to eat and then tour the cellar.

Been to Napa before or is this your first wine country trip?

What kinds of wines do you like? That'll greatly effect the recs I am sure.

Need food recs too I imagine, or do you have some lined up?

great little vacation town. I love it.

Flying Goat coffee and Idlewild wines on the square... but tons of options.

you happen to get reservation at Single Thread? 3 Michelin stars... pretty rare

Second RRBC. The Windsor tap room is nice and much closer to Healdsburg than the OG Santa Rosa pub.

For winery recs, you can't skip Ridge if you like Zins. I also like Quivira in that area.

Arista makes great Pinot and has beautiful grounds. Davis Family also makes good Pinot, and their tasting room right off of the square has a great view of the Russian River.

if you want to drink a more complex but not cheap zin, check out Limerick Lane just outside of town. Sections of the vineyard go back to 1910.

but so many quality pinot producers, really depends on your taste preference and what kind of tasting experience you want....

Made a little Coq au Vin tonight and drank some 2019 Gevrey Chambertin. First time spending more than 50 on a red burgundy. It didn't disappoint.

I have had some Aloxe Corton, Volnay, and Pommard before and never has them next to each other to compare.

This was delicious with the food I made. Really really nice.

I'm not new to making beef bourguignon. I'll make it for my family after my house is finished and son is born, so If anyone has a bottle or two I should splurge on, let me know. Id probably buy 3-4 of these so the whole larger family can enjoy.
