Amazing they can make 150,000 bottles every year and they are so damn yummy. Bordeaux is crazy.

The first growths in particular have refined their clones for a hundred years, and they don't share them. And their vinting practices are second to none, and in the last decade at the forefront of wine chemistry.

Dude. I loved the 96 Margaux. Had it about 9 years ago at Bouchon on a "man trip" with my son on the way to Redwood Ntl Park. It was so good that I made him take a sip (8 yrs old at the time). Probably one of my favorites wines ever. Nice choice!

Yes, it was amazing. I was surprised how good the DiamondC VH was. Maya is always nails, but sucks that it was a bit corked. Definitely impacted the nose and taste. :-(

A stupid good Tempranillo for $25. Punches way, way above its price point. That is the current release.

We had a great Tempranillo yesterday, too. A 2021 Pinea 17 from Ribera del Duero, recommended by the staff at Brandani's Restaurant and Wine Bar. Very balanced and smooth. Would definitely order it again.

Thank you for finding this. However, there was a error when I went to check out and it's not $35… It is actually $23 which is absolutely insane.

How many of them did you get? I went back for more and there were only 5 left hahaha

I had planned on 4 at that price but the last one looked so lonely I had to take it home too.

It was very different from all the other Darius I've ever had. Back when I preferred big bold cabs, this was one of my favorite wines so I've had every vintage from 2013-2019 (although haven't opened all the year yet). I am not sure if it was due to age, the vintage, or the 3-hour decant, but this one was much more subtle and almost flat compared to the big flavors of other vintages.

After we drank it i did read some cellar tracker reviews that seems to say similar things so I think it may be a 2014 specific thing.

Just a heads up, that wine on the Last Bottle offer today is very good. I am loading up on some. Definitely worth a get if you are at all a fan of Willamette Pinots. (Furioso Vineyards Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2023)

Sweet! How did it compare to the 92?

Very, very similar. Both were excellent classic Napa cabs. I'd probably give the very slight edge to the '93 because:

1. Maybe just a little more elegant.
2. Was half the price of the 1992.
3. All the great legends graduated HS in '93 (sorry, pal).

Really fascinating three hours yesterday with Andrew Schultz, owner vineyard manager of Moc Toe Winery in Washington Moc Toe - Andrew and Dan Gatlin. They discussed viticulture to a detail I'd not really experienced before along with precision winemaking. I didn't completely follow all of it, the chemistry is quite detailed. Lots of Bordeaux talk along with Napa and Washington. Bottom line is that the elixir we all love so much takes an incredible amount of passion, knowledge and stubborn commitment to make it work. These guys are truly "wine people". It was a real treat. I walked off with some pre-release (unlabeled) bottles of Moc Toe. It will be released in September at a lamb roast on their property at Elephant Mountain. Diana and I are planning to go.

There's only 10 barrels of the Cabernet, so it will be hard to get, but it's, in modern terms is worth the couple hundred bucks per bottle.

I am a big fan of old school Tempranillo when it has some age on it. Had this at El Raval in Austin.

Letting this decant for 4-5 hours. I bought 6 of these a few years ago as a gift to my wife (to me, from me, if we're being honest). We agreed to open them up only on monumental occasions.

The first was when she sold her practice and retired. This is the second. A new chapter begins for our family begins tomorrow at 9:00am, and very much looking forward to it.

That's going to be a great bottle. I have a few of those left in my cellar, let me know how it is. Had a 14 m etain about a month ago and it was in great shape with no decant
