yes, TW is no longer doing the same point multiplier system in Texas. It varies by state, but they are trying to move everyone onto a singular system that doesn't have the crazy multipliers and just makes you spend more money

Oof. Yeah, the reason I bought into the Total Wine system was the promos to get status and hope for something good. May just throw in the towel.

Finally got to add this pair to the shelf.

2008 PVW 23 Year
2011 PVW 15 Year

Both were purchased new by the seller (a local elderly chap) but he couldn't remember the exact year he purchased the 15 year. I was able to find the laser etch on the 23 year but couldn't on the 15 year. Foil caps are all intact, are the right style for the year, and show the look/light wear you would expect on a bottle that old. Gentleman was a retired A&M Engineering Prof that decided to sell them and I happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Outstanding. I am thinking the more I look into this bottle (the 15yr) that it is actually older than 2011. There's no laser code on or around the back label. It's possible it might be 2006-2009. I'll check a couple other possible identifiers when I get home this evening.

Just received as a gift…

Any insight?

Never been into the Makers stuff too much. Not in a negative way, just usually chased other distilleries.

Don't know about that one specifically, but some of those are really good. I had the "Honeysuckle Breeze" and it was fantastic.

I would. My family cracks one on Christmas Eve every year and it's become a fun tradition. It's an easy sip and approachable for people who aren't rye drinkers.

Absolutely! I've found a couple in my area, but they have been in the $190-200 range. I just can't see paying the $50 mark up. But at that price, it's definitely worth it.

MWND gets a lot of hate for not being a great value, but I buy it every year with no regrets. Nothing better on a cold winter night during the holidays

This year's is very good. I don't like to overpay for it, but I'll take 1-2 a year if I find at msrp. Good or bad, haven't decided yet, it's also my wife's and my main whiskey buddy wife's favorite as well.

I haven't had that particular one but those are all good bottles. Maker's is boring so they don't get much play but everything the release, and all of the different stave finishes have all been good.

We cracked it tonight and it lived up to its billing. Lot of cinnamon in there. Very smooth to drink, and just when you think it's over, a nice sharp bite as it's fading. Out drinks its proof on that ending note for sure.

Delightful. I typically enjoy higher proofs, so I was pleasantly surprised how complex this was at 101 proof.

Lots of fruit up front on the nose. More leather/tobacco/oak mid palate…lighter finish with a hint of fruit again. Really enjoyed it.

Last time I was in the liquor store in the Costco lot, they had one of those. It's had 3-4 price reductions and is till on the shelf.

What should I ask the manger to sell it to me for? I was thinking $3 grand.

Think I could get that back on the secondary market?

They had a stack of those for $6500 each at the recent Specs drop in Irving. Even with that deep discount, they were not flying off the shelf.

I have a 15yr i purchased off the shelf before 2009 (that's when I stopped buying and got into beer). It has no laser code. Not sure how to date it, i just know when I didn't buy it after. Crazy that these used to sit on the shelf. I usually stuck to Lot B for about $45.

That could very well track for when I bought it. That would mean the juice is SW.
