Trying to decide what is gonna wash down the victory and go with my birthday steak. At the in-laws mountain house, so not the options of home, but slowly building a nice bar here as well, so plenty to choose from.

Thanks - Pagosa Springs. Spend as much time as I/we can up here. I'm essentially the de facto property manager, so take care of the projects if there are any, then enjoy the view of Pagosa Peak from the front porch with a good pour or cocktail.

Finally got around to watching the Brewzle Houston hunt video. Any of y'all folks shop at the Longhorn Liquor store of Shepard Dr that was in the video? They have a killer single malt selection. If the prices are decent i may have to make a trek up there one day, or find someone to ship me a bottle or two.

had a buddy over to watch football over the weekend and we ended up cracking a couple of interesting 15yr bottles

  • Widow Jane Vaults 15 (2020 release) - this batch is a blend from Indiana/Tennessee coming in just below 100pf. Pretty evident on the nose and palate that this has some Dickel components, as the minerality comes through at times. That said, the Indiana component (MGP) helps to balance it out and brings out interesting flavors. This is less "traditional" and plays into some oak/fruit combinations, and the mouthfeel is really nice. Solid pour overall, I'd score it 8/10 but would not pay retail of $200+ for it.
  • RR15 - finally got around to opening this up, and it lives up to the hype. It's everything that you want in a classic bourbon profile, and the turkey funk is hanging around in the right places. Pretty similar to RR13 B2, which makes sense given the suggested component age statements. Finish goes on forever and it drinks way below proof. For my palate, this is like 9.8/10 and something I'd pay retail for and probably consider secondary.

It is a fantastic $30 daily drinker and was my go to for years. At $45 I'd still buy a bottle if I didn't have one on the shelf, just cause I do like it. Any higher I'm probably grabbing something else
