I haven't had JD10 and figured I didn't need to seek it out. From what I've read that seems to be the case.

That's not far off MSRP. If you like Redwood Empire Bourbon, you'll really like that. It won't get much cheaper though.

Any opinion in this year's Shenk's? Saw it bundled with a JD barrel pick for 159 and was wondering if it would be worth it. Barrel pick is 94 proof so not a usual drinker, but have a bunch of friends who like JD products.

JD SBBP is certainly the better product but the regular SB is still pretty damn good. If you value the Shenk's at 120, which is what TW lists it for then that aint a bad bundle.

Yes. I'd say you're buying a combo pack of average whiskey. Not bad, but nothing worth splurging for especially if the price is high. If they are discounting the pack it might be worth picking up if you're curious. They do have better offerings out there.

Campfire tastes too much like peated scotch with extra smoke for me to enjoy. Their Chardonnay aged cask collection, on the other hand, is a nice pour.

High West special releases are quite good (cask strength, finished whiskeys, Prisoners, Midwinters, Bourye, etc) but I find their standard offerings lacking a little bit. The double rye! isn't bad though. I'd buy it standalone.

That's been my experience too. MWND has turned into a Christmas Eve tradition in my family. Great pour around a fire waiting for Santa to arrive.

Double rye in an old fashioned is fantastic.
