Did you really get a barrel of Weller full proof?

I guess I'm confused on how this is happening
Sazerac barrel Select...sign up..accrue points.

They will send out an email on what is up for selection, then you rank, then they do drawing. If they pick your number, you are able to purchase a barrel of what you were picked for.

They invite you to the distillery to actually pick your barrel as well.

I beleieve you foot the entire cost for your trip, but you can have a party of 4(?) For the picking process where they wheel out 3-4 barrells or samples from those barrels. You try them at BP, but if it's a 90p label then they cut it down to the appropriate proof. Which gives you more supply.

Then you have to arrange with a local retailer to sell and I guess how many you have them hold back (and you have to purchase those bottles) and the store makes their $$ as well.

If I'm wrong on this please let me know. I'd love to win a barrell!! Just not this time.

I did this for a Buffalo Trace barrel last year.

You do foot the bill for the trip. You can take 8 total people - you get a private tour and then do a tasting. You pick between 4 barrels. They will have 1 tasting of each pre-prepared at whatever proof the bottle you won is going to be. You choose your barrel, then you get to sign it. They then let you stave bourbon out to taste the barrel proof bourbon out of it. Highly suggest filling up water bottles (as many as you can - usually 1 per person) right then and there and taking it with you! You have to "hide" it when you leave the tasting room but I got 2 full bottles of barrel proof Buffalo Trace (basically Stagg) - and WOW it is sooooo good.

You do have to work through a retail store for distribution. You do not have to give them any bottles to keep, you can buy the whole barrel. Specs was very friendly with ours and was a great price ($22-23 after tax per bottle). They do not have their normal markup on it.

WFP would be $45-50ish per bottle I would guess.

Wow, thanks for the reply. That's more people than I thought. Didn't know about the water bottles either, good to know. So they just sort of turn a blind eye so long as you're not super obvious about filling?

That would be such a fun trip.

Ha they definitely watched us do it - our tour guide did. He was the one that told us that "water bottles make great flasks." They give you a Buffalo Trace water bottle to wash between tastings so just drink it all right then!

Nobody else is really in the room with you except your party and the tour guide till the end when they switch out the barrels (maybe at the beginning when they get it setup). We actually had our wives join us in the room, which our guide said broke the rules but he was really great about it and let them in.

All my wife would see is the soles of my feet.
"Going to KY, be right back!"
Her, "You're going to get lube?"
"Yes, going to get lubed up!"

Three days later....
