It is not bad it is just over priced and low proof. Where it shines it is at work functions, since it is impossible to get drunk off of and can be found at any bar.

Have had the Woodford Double many times, nice pour. I also recently had a bottle of OF 1920 Prohibition, also good juice. Never again with the BH.

Need to know if anyone else has experienced this.

I enjoy Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. Mild, vanilla flavors.
But every single store pick I've had for it (3 at this point) has been absolutely awful. Very over-oaked with the flavor and nose of bad, acrid BBQ. I know that flavor in BBQ is often caused by over-smoking, or cooking on a smoldering fire instead of a clean-burning wood flame with nearly-clear smoke.

Anyone else had this experience with Woodford Double Oaked store picks?

If what other managers have said is true (who knows) that's grounds for immediate termination. Specifically if the manager or an especially close associate (known friends or family) are selling at a markup, they can be fired on the spot. I'm sure it varies by district or region even if it is true.

I know a few people in Austin that do that.

It's a great community and we have raised a ton of money for a variety of charities.

But at times, it's a community that eats its own.

That's a slap in the face to Coors

It should start appearing in the next month or so. It's a winter release and then tends to be around. Also not a huge markup on secondary if you look in a group.

Is there a way to know when Buffalo Trace will be available at stores. I just stopped checking bc it's never there.

Same for Blantons. Can never find it.

College Station but go to Houston on occasion. And also drive through Ft Worth.

over the summer I saw buffalo trace at the university dr specs several times on a monday night. so you might start checking on a monday.

Buffalo Trace is on the shelf everywhere I go in the Waco area just about. Blanton's has been on the shelf at Twin's & not really moving.

Buffalo Trace/Weller Special Reserve is starting to be more and more common. You should see it a Twins/Total Wine and Specs more often than not.

Blanton's is a different story. I feel like you've got to have a relationship with the manager or bourbon aisle employee at specs/twins. When I was actively hunting for bourbon, that's how I got some. It's gotten really expensive at retail as well. $78+

I've never just seen it on the shelf.

Every December, certain Specs in Dallas, Houston and Austin do a mega allocated drop where people stand in line for days.

Wow. Thats incredible. I have an old beam bottle from my grandfather. Similar situation. He gave it to me because the art on the front looked like a cadet. I've looked it up and people say it's really good juice but I can't bring myself to crack it.
