Still Austin gets crapped on a lot around here, and it's understandable, to an extent. But they are easily making the best whiskey in Texas, and that cask strength rye is very good. Not many 100% ryes around and even less that have such bright fruity notes that I personally really enjoy.

No hate from me on Still Austin although I do like GB better. The Still Austin Rye's are solid.

You choose Still Austin over Garrison Brothers?

This is awesome. Garrison got me into whiskey and I've know the people there for a long time so I'll always support them. Unfortunately Dan is a sip fan too. But the good news is that he loves Aggies and is great about it.

I signed this bottle over ten years ago and Dan loved it. They still use it in their newsletters and he used to keep it on his phone to show Aggies that visit.

Good peeps and good juice. Especially the higher proof stuff like the Cowboy.

Yeah, I do. It's my favorite TX distillery. Everyone makes their own decisions as a consumer, but if I started boycotting brands bc of what/who they support as a company, I wouldn't have many brands to buy.

Let's not forget another Aggie owned and operated distillery.

They have been very good to this group!

Yes, I personally would choose Still over Garrison Bros everyday. I have had a bunch of Still whiskey that is very good, and haven't had any GB that I would buy or order again...yet. Now, I haven't had Cowboy bourbon, and hear good tings about it, but over $200 is a real tough ask when I really don't like the standard offering at all.

Figured RC would enter the conversation at some point, but the original statement was "made in Texas". I've had a good amount of RC I really enjoyed, including our picks, and the 16yr is in my personal running for best I've had this year, but it was "made" in Indiana. I know they make their own juice now, but everything I've actually enjoyed was MGP.

Ironroot Republic would be in that same conversation They are putting out good stuff, and their distillate is getting better, but their best releases (that I've had) are still MGP.

Roger that.

I am a prideful Texan, but have no problem with admitting that other states do it better.

Never bought anything from them, never will. Don't care if it's the best whiskey on the market. Will it make a difference? No, but I can sleep peacefully knowing I'm not supporting sip.

Went by 1845 Distilling in Lowry Crossing last weekend as it's not but 15min up the road from my parent's place.
Wow. For a little hole-in-the-wall distillery, they are pumping out true bourbon, not just Texas Whiskey. If they can maintain their quality, they are going to be giving everyone a run for their money.

For sure, I had never actually had any of their products until y'all started mentioning it. I have a bottle of Spanish Oak and I'm looking forward to that last batch. Awesome to see Aggies putting out some good juice.

This is probably the only Texas made Malt Whiskey I haven't tried. Looking at their website it looks like the have a Bottled-In-Bond available at the distillery. I will have to grab a bottle next time I go see family.

Seems like that little part of the world is becoming a hotspot for Texas Whiskey

Side note, the spec's by me has several tater bait formerly "allocated" bourbons just sitting on the shelves now. That's a very good sign. Henry McKenna, ECTB, and Heaven Hill BiB were all bottles I really wanted and liked but never could find.

Msrp has gone up on McKenna, but otherwise, I take it as an increase in availability for solid hooch. Oh and KC 12.

They will have special release cask strength stuff a few times a year. Really neat place. Hit up Real Ale down the road also.

I have a bottle of their Real Spirits Single Malt. It is definitely one of the better Texas Single Malts I have had and one of the few that I would be happy to buy again.

Reposting this with a lower price.

Our neighborhood dads club (501c) bought a barrel of Rebecca Creek double barrel Spanish Oak (Texags has done a pick of this - delicious stuff) to raise money for the local community and kids (Spring Branch ISD - Houston).

We want to sell the remaining bottles, with all proceeds going to the 501c (it's for the kids!). Each bottle is $65 (was $75).

Located in Houston, TX between Kirkwood and Dairy Ashford, just south of memorial drive in Nottingham Forest.

We have 60 bottles remaining. These bottles gotta go so we can get another barrel.

Text or call me at 713 two zero two 7683.
