I like the 12Yr. Couple of buddies polished off 2 bottles during the CWS run and took a good chunk out of the bottle sitting at Gate12 Bar during the regionals. I just picked up another on secondary for 50. It was way below other secondary I have seen this year so I snagged it.

I haven't yet. Maybe this weekend. The Specs pick I've had was fantastic, so I'm sure this will be the same. I'll have to compare the batches.

Yes, and I prefer it over the Weller 12 year (simply a reference point).

Is it a 90 proof bottle like the Weller 12? I've been trying to find the 1792 12 for a while.

It's a decent bourbon but not anything I would hunt for. A little too much hype in the 1792 series if you ask me. Definitely not worth any amount over MSRP. Depending on what else is in the raffle you might have better options. Just my 12 cents.

I have a KC 12 so if I snag it I'll compare and contrast.

KC 12 is one of my favorites and I buy several a year. I never bought another 1792 12 year.

Both are really ****ing good and you should buy either if you see them at or near MSRP. if i had to choose i'd go 1792 but would easily be happy with either.

I'm the opposite. I like KC12 but have passed it up many times. I never miss a chance to buy 1792 12 year. Everybody is different which makes it fun.

Anyone had it?

Have had a bunch of single barrels of it that have been good to great. Have a couple of the 7yr I picked up at the distillery last year, but haven't made it there yet.

Very nice. That rye is one of my favorites. Is the bourbon essentially the same as the BYO Experience version?

The Kirkland BiB that I bought is apparently Barton juice but it is tasting very similarly to WT101.

Overall I'd say it's worth the $25 I paid for it (1.5L)

Stopped by the store on the way home to grab a replacement for my nearly empty Stranahan's Sherry Cask.

Like seemingly everything else i buy this bottle has been sitting on the shelf for a very long time, im guessing since 2018. It is the old version of the Sherry Cask that was 4 years old and finished in Oloroso barrels rather than 7 years old like the batch 12 bottle on the left. From what i have read this version is basically just a sherry bomb, which i am looking forward to trying.




PS i also grabbed 50ml bottle of Willett just to see if I still thought it was good, and honestly, while it isn't something i would rate very highly I would choose it other a lot of other bottles I have bought. I just like Pot Stills be it a single malt or a bourbon.

I tell you what I am not a fan of this wilderness trail rye. Very disappointing

Why do you guys drink so much awful bourbon and single malt crap?

I did the Stranahans tour in Denver last weekend with my wife and one of my college roommates for my birthday before the Foo Fighters concert. Never been a Stranahans fan just based off the stuff you can get in Texas, but their single barrel cask strength they had on site was pretty legit. Tour and tastings were fun too. Would recommend.

I would definitely like to take tour their distillery. Did you have any of the mountain angel? that is probably my favorite of the releases i have had. As far as the single barrel goes, you should be able to find some picks of it here in the next few months. I've got 7 or so bottles of last years single barrel cask strength from stores in VA, SC, AL, and Texas that i picked dup on my way down.

Yep had the Mountain Angel, some of their different finished options, and some of the Snowflake varietals. Not my normal palate, but I really enjoyed some of their offerings. Their process is very unique in how they make their mash bill and age it.

I think they are supposed to be, but I got a Fort Nelson BYO on a trip in May and it's different from this barrel. They're both single barrels though.

My Fort Nelson is has a ton of red fruit on the palate with like a hint of sweet cinnamon roll without the frosting. The BS Bourbon is the same notes but flipped. A lot more yeasty dessert with the fruit notes on the back end. Incredible nose though.

As far as how you get the bottles, BYO is offered 3ish times per week at the distillery. Just have to be there on the right day lined up before they open. They do two times and the day I was there they had 6 or 8 of us for each time slot, I can't remember. The BS Bourbon was a national release in 2017, but has been distillery only since. It's random drop though. They tend to do 2-3 drops at random points each day. Usually bundles like M10B and the US1 bourbon. But occasionally they do this Barrel Strength one and it's the only way to get it.
