That is disappointing but i guess not surprising.

Next time i travel the only thing ill probably be looking for is the Jack Single Malt in the duty free store.

Not much of a bourbon scene.

I served with the Kiwis overseas and they love beer and rum. They are great people and were like family.

If the US goes to hell, I'm heading to NZ.

If HEB were to sell bourbon, I bet they would have Pappy's on the shelf every week.

Very, depending on price point. The standard MSRP is about $72. Some stores have specific store picks that are $92. I think the regular $72 is great and have a hard time paying a $20 premium for what is essentially the same juice. But yes, quite good

lol. I was thinking about how great it would be if Texas grocery stores could sell liquor.

That was one of the few good things about California. My little upscale neighborhood grocery store had EHT SmB always on the shelf and frequently had SiB and the Rye available at MSRP well.

Basically exactly at MSRP. Picked up the bottle.

It was a little place in the IE called Gerrard's. They had a small but good selection. This was prior to covid, no idea what it is like now, but it did teach me to stop in those random stores just in case.

If you ever head up to the Monrovia/Pasadena area there are some stores there with incredible selection. Granted all Buffalo Trace products will be priced at secondary + but they will also have a lot of other good stuff and picks are reasonable prices.

San Diego is awesome. Im sure you will love it there.

I have purchased a few bottles of bourbon online from Nestor Liquor which is located in San Diego. I haven't seen their brick/mortar store, but it might be worth checking out.

That is the same kind of store as the ones i was thinking of. Looking at their website BT products are way high but they have some awesome looking store picks for very reasonable prices -

Woodford Double Oak Pick for $50
10 yr 119 proof EC private barrel for $90
Rebel Cask Strength for $54
Westward Pick for $90
$45 and $50 for BT and ER picks.

Go to James J fox in London. It's where Churchill used to buy his cigars, they even have a chair he used to sit in upstairs. Buy Cubans and smuggle them back to enjoy with a nice American whiskey.

Davidoff would be another good place especially for cubans

Its a Rock Hills Farm bottle with a Blanton's style top.

I don't think I have seen a bottle of Caribou Crossing in years. Cool pickup.

Was fortunate to pick up the Heaven Hill Grain to Glass rye today! Anybody try it yet?

Thoughts on this? It's 80 proof, but 18 year.

Buddies dad was a huge crown guy. He passed a couple years ago so we cracked one of these. It was very good, but not on the same level as great bourbon IMO.

I personally wouldn't pay $200ish or whatever it goes for at only 80 proof. Im sure it tastes fine but too much other stuff i'd rather buy.

It's selling for $150. According to OnlyDrams that's under MSRP.

I have one and it's really good.

Significantly less than i thought. I've surely paid more for some scotch that was probably far worse. If you like Canadian Whiskey it would make a nice occasional sipper to have on the shelf.

I do want to try the new Crown Single Malt they released. Looks like my local TW just got it in.
