Tried a couple interesting pours last night with the whiskey club. We started with the J.T. Meleck Louisiana rice whiskey. It was pretty dang good. Had heard it called crushable before and the group would definitely agree with that. Was also one guy's birthday, so I broke out something good for him and it didn't disappoint. Rebecca creek 16. Drank dark and musty (in a good way) like many of the dusties I've had. Wood, dusty, grape jam or raisins, definitely a pour that sticks with you.


Had hoped to pop it when the Ags won in Omaha, but sharing with friends who enjoyed it is almost as good.

It's on the shelf at Spec's in DFW now. I saw it at two different stores this week. Different batches and very different colors. I'm tempted to go get the other batch that was much darker to see the difference.

The barrel strength JT Meleck is even better and still crushable. It's dangerous for the proof and so unique.

I first tried it when a friend sent me a 2oz sample and I had no idea what to expect being a rice whiskey but it's fantastic. Such a great change of pace bottle and a fun share.

Shhhhh don't let everyone in on the rice whiskey secret! Only kidding, it's a fun thing to try and I like it a lot. No funk, only sweet syrup candied goodness from that regular bottle, good viscosity and decent finish. Can only imagine how tasty the cask strength is.

I'll definitely keep my eye out as well. It does look like you can order it through a vendor connected to their site though. I would pay the shipping if I could grab one of the single barrels they have on there. I'll probably watch until they have another single barrel available and grab that and the high proof version at the same time.

Before everybody jumps on that, I'm fairly certain that you have to have the personalized link sent to your email in order to purchase. They did something similar for the wild turkey triumph a few weeks ago, and I was only able to purchase when I used the actual link from the email

just checked their website and it looks like the furthest south it has made it is the Spec's in Victoria. Hopefully it will come just a bit further south here soon.
