Yep! I know I'm still feeling my way around and you guys know it. Original response seemed quite a bit condescending and took away my enjoyment.

As for right now, that drain pour GB is the best thing that's happened to Aggie baseball.

It was but don't let that bother you. talking **** on GB is a long running tradition on this thread, of which im certainly an offender. the bright side is if you are drinking regular GB ain't no one ever gonna call you a tater.

I will not spend any amount of money on any GB product because they have never made anything better than WT101 or Maker's but I would never pour it down the drain. It is certainly drinkable.

I think I have all 3 12ish bottles i brought so repeat for sure. Text me up if you come up. Maybe we meet up some where..

What would ya'll think is a good Texas bourbon? That was really what I was shooting for, wasn't necessarily targeting GB but definitely wanted a Texas vibe for this game.

Rebecca Creek Double Barrel or Rebecca Creek Double Barrel Spanish Oak.

I like all of the Still Austin and TX Whiskey I've tried.

I think Still Austin is fantastic. But they're big t-sip supporters so many on here abstain. Hasn't stopped me yet, tho.

While not a bourbon, i was enjoying a Balcones Lineage during tonight's game.

Don't let the GB hate get to you. They have an amazing setup in Hye and have some interesting products. Tastes change. I started with the small batch but don't like it as much anymore and would rather drink Guadalupe or LB or cowboy. You have to be ok with a little Texas funk. Some think GB is too pricey for what it is and some don't like that Texas funk.

Rebecca creek's double barrel offerings are all good and most of the stuff garrison does that is at higher proof points is pretty solid. I personally am not a huge fan of the still Austin stuff or Rebecca creek's blended stuff. (Again each to their own)


Also like others said if u like the taste tell others to pound sand. Drink what you like

We did two Rebecca Creek picks last year that were pretty dang good!

Spanish Oak and Double Barrel Whiskey

Raised some money for Gold Star Families and made an infamous tater sticker.

We like to have fun around here and make fun of each other. Keeps the bourbon group fun. If someone sounds condescending, they are just being blunt about their bourbon preference……or trolling lol

Despite their affiliation with u texas athletics, Still Austin makes some good whiskey. Their barrel strength rye is very good, and their bourbon keeps gets better and older.

Ironroot Republic out of Denison is making some decent whiskey as well. They have even worked with A&M to learn more about, and implement the usage of heirloom corns, as well as creating a proprietary strain. They do things a bit differently than most as their process was learned from Cognac makers.

As others have mentioned, we've done a couple picks with Rebecca Creek that were good. I'm not that big of a fan of their own distillate yet, but most of their sourced stuff is pretty good...especially if you find yourself in front of a bottle of 16yr. That is likely what will get pulled out of my cabinet when baseball is successful this weekend.

But I'm doing it one better, I'm not giving them money and still drinking their whiskey. I've been given a handful of bottles in the last few months as I've gotten to know their Dallas folks from working various whiskey events.

I don't like their affiliation, and have trouble giving them my money too, though I do like some of their whiskey, and their distillery is actually a cool spot to hangout and have a frozen old fashioned.

I know. Every bourbon YouTube show I follow raves about Still Austin.

Like a lot of stuff these day, imo, their cask strength is the only one worth having.

One of Still Austin's current limited offerings - BiB rye is phenomenal and even better than the cask strength

You're underestimating it. I don't like their affiliation but they're making some of the best stuff in the state. Nancy Fraley has a big impact on what they're putting out.

Agree. Their entire limited seasonal BiB release was fantastic. My personal favorite was the high rye bourbon. As mentioned, legendary master blender Nancy Fraley does all their blending for this series and they're putting out impressive releases.

Grab me one.... You know I will pick it up eventually....
