And to tie the MGP and great random finds together, this bottle was part of a bundle to get a hirsch at a local chain last fall. Turned out to be such a good $40 bottle I went back for 2 more. Single barrel pick with MGP juice. Such an easy drinker even at 111 proof. Probably the most citrus forward profile I've had, and I've enjoyed it so much.

In Missouri today and stopped by a local establishment. Found this bottle, which I'd been interested in, didn't know this was a Missouri beverage. Initial pours are ok, nothing special. Maybe it will open up later. Had heard it was very good.

I like it. I found it to be very much in the Maker's vein of wheaters, which is what i like. I don't recall it being very complex but rather really strong and forward with the wheat flavors and sweetness.
It's funny, I brought a 1.75 of Weller Special Reserve on our camper trip for my trip booze, and they tasted more similar than I would've expected. Obviously a big proof difference. More testing later.
I really enjoy all the Ben Holladay stuff. I am a wheat guy though

Soft Red Wheat is great if you like wheaters. I prefer the Bottled in Bond to the Rickhouse proof though. I get the BiB at $60 in Oklahoma and it's hard to beat.
Same. At the bib 100 proof, I prefer the soft red wheat. But at rickhouse proof, they flip flop, and I prefer the rye based standard bourbon.

Not worth much. I've seen them sell for anywhere between $40-80 over the last year. I've got a couple as well I keep around because they look cool.

Interesting, they had the BiB too but I figured the high proof was the one to grab. I'll try that one later.

I'll admit that it's partly because I don't love proof beyond about 110. I think the SRW BiB has a great flavor to proof balance. It rivals Redwood Empire's Grizzly Beast for me as one of the best non-Kentucky straight bourbons.
Anything from Barrell Craft Spirits. They blend incredibly well.
I think barrel makes Stellum.

They also have 12 different mash bills, all at various age levels so the product they produce has a wide range.
Yeah Stellum was their side project to try and produce a consistent blend that you could always find on the shelves. They keep a portion of the blend and continue adding to it so it maintains the same flavor profile. It's pretty good.

I got the lower proof one last year and have really enjoyed it. Haven't been able to find the higher proof version
