Indeed. This is one reason why I'm in the local bourbon society. I had a pour of Stagg Jr. as an encore after three other great pours for $20.

Brazos Valley Bourbon Society. We're a 70 member club in BCS that meets once a month.

We drink blind and discuss what we think of each one. Last night's theme was "finished". Then we had the bonus pour of Stagg.

It was really great in the 80s and 90s. In the 2020s it's just another big city tbh. Not much different at all from Houston or Dallas.

Anyway, back to bourbon. What's the pour for the SB?

I have lived there. We have many friends there. Wife is from there. Daughter currently lives there. In-laws and cousins still live there.

I'm not talking size, just that whatever charm or weirdness Austin had that made it different is clearly fading. It's all sprawl and chains just like any other big city. And others do it better. Just my opinion.

My man. We took an anniversary trip there from Southern Pines. Went to the dueling piano bar, took a nice hike, went to Wicked Weed and finished our day at New Belgium. Beautiful view of the river from their tap room and deck.

Edit to add: I find the higher level Jack Daniels stuff to be some of the hardest bottles to come by.
