How much was the ECBP? I work around the corner.

Can confirm, ECBP at Specs was around $95.00 the last time I went in there, which was around the December drop. I passed on ECBP and picked up an Ezra Brooks Distiller's Collection Single Barrel Select (Spec's Pick). It was $55.00.

They still had a few store picks available including the Ezra, Angel's Envy, ECBP, and a couple others I don't remember off the top of my head.

I just didn't want to spend the $95.00 and haven't had any Ezra Brooks, so I went with the new, cheaper option.

I think ECBP C923 is worth $95 if that's what they're charging. Part of what makes that bottle great is that it's normally like $70-$75, but that particular release is up there with Stagg, RR13, and some of the other highly sought after higher proof stuff when it comes to taste and quality. It's just a fantastic bottle.

Here is my issue with EC Private Barrel. Over the last couple years I was getting 10-11 year picks.

Now all I see is 8 year. Someone told me that they are reserving their older barrels for their ECBP A-C batches (example: ECBP C923)

I probably would have made the same choice. The VABC Ezra Brooks bottle was pretty decent.

When they are released. A-B-C denotes the release order. 1-5-9 (typically) is the month and the last two digits are the year.

So A123 is the first release of 2023 and was released in January of that year.

EC releases their A1, B5 and C9 yearly as well as private barrels. He's asking what is the difference between those. I'm not sure myself but I was able to get some of both last year. The private barrels are closer to $90, the ABC are usually around $70.

A-C are the yearly limited releases while the private barrels are store picks.

A-C were always 12 year age stated until the B release this year which was a few months younger. C was almost 14 years. They will vary now to give them more freedom to make a better blend, but be around 12 years. So far that's had a major positive impact.

Private barrels tend to be 8-10 years but you mostly see 8. I've had a couple and while they are all good, just like the normal releases are all good, I wouldn't say they are worth more. I've had one private barrel pick that was exceptional but the rest were just good juice and I would probably snag the normal releases instead unless it was a pick with a group I was a member of like TexAgs.
