Were at 95. Phone a friend if they haven't chimed in yet. Were close to hitting 121.

I posted the link to it on Premium. So we have new taters being born.

Should have given this board at least a couple days….

I think I have earned the right to conduct this as I see fit.

I think he did. He posted a message a couple days ago to give everyone a heads up and said he was going live today.

New Riff pick barrel sold out.

Thanks for the quick fill up. OLC typically rewards us with good picks since we sell his barrels out very quickly.

Stopped in the ABC store by my work today to pick up some 50ml bottles of BT for our holiday party and another bottle of Stranahan's SB Cask Strength for myself and was able to snag a bottle of 1792 BiB.

Does light mean what I think it does, like flavor? I see it's high proof but I wonder what light means.

Being a proofhead the name scares me.

I got a bottle of the first light whiskey they released and it is hands down my favorite Penelope release to date and I have had a bunch of their stuff. Would love to find this second edition.

I have one that I love but it's not Penelope. I'll have to look when I get home.

Yes and no. Light Whiskey's are supposed to have a lighter flavor but it is also a classification of whiskey.

like bourbon, like whiskeys have their own rules. Where as bourbon has to be distilled under 160, light whiskey has to be distilled above hence the high proof. I don't believe there is an aging requirement or any rules around the barrel, but i might be wrong on that.

I only drink bourbon straight from the barrel and above 140 Proof.

Light whiskey is for ISIS and Hamas

Isn't light whiskey high corn profile/mashbill?

I always thought that's what it meant but maybe I'm wrong

Yep, I don't recall the exact requirement but it has to do with mashbill

"Is the name confusing, using the term 'light' for a cask-strength offering? Yes, it is very," says Nolan Smith, owner of Backbone Bourbon, whose portfolio includes light whiskey. "It's basically 'corn whiskey' (i.e.: high corn percentage in the mash bill; ours is 99% corn and 1% malted barley) which traditionally has been an unfavorable term in the whiskey world."

It's gotta be distilled at 160 proof (or higher) and the barrels have to be used or new uncharred.

Just looked it up there is no requirement that it has to be corn just a "Fermented grain mash". Im guessing corn is popular because of the high proof it is distilled at.

I had this last year.

Let's just say I plan on not buying it again.

I think it would be great in cocktails and ideal for not overpowering the drink with whiskey flavor.

Lower proof but I'll defer to your taste. Probably won't seek a light.

Cocktails are a whole other thing. We don't make many, so that reaffirms my gut.
